Showing up on 95E, 111, 95W just like K with 52, 126 etc Those routes do make some sense as they serve high dchools.. 111 served Morgan Park and Gwendolyn Brooks. The 126 serves Christ the King, Crane, and Whitney Young.

The fact that the garages that run those routes have a bit more flexibility with those artics outside of peak times make these sighting seem a bit more random I guess lol

I remember my first ride on the 500 series Optimus was on the 36 Broadway, a route that had no business with those buses. Needless to say it was crazy crammed . I also have seen an article on the 7 and had the same reaction. But I will take a bus that's too big or too small ( provided I can get on it) rather than no bus at all. I remember I seen a 500 on the 85 back in 08 on central & Bloomingdale going to Harrison like tf that bus doing there but it was 2 noavs close right behind it 🤣🤣

I never understood the logic of those short buses especially when they were interlined with a busier route like a 36 or 85.

K and A had been known to run an artic on 39 on full runs and school 🏫 trippers. But having an artic run on the 55 is crazy considering 6 never had them at all. Not to say they couldn't have used them because they have moderate to heavy ridership routes 9, X9, 49, X49, 55, 62, 63 and 94. But the N5, come on. Maybe 1 trip that was interlined with an EB 95 at best going to 69th Red Line and then to the garage. But not all night! 🤣🤣

What I was getting at is K and 103rd have so many that they tend to use them during times that wouldn't make sense. Yes but the 53A serves a high school around 103rd and Pulaski and serves Bogan Airport at 79th and Pulaski. Also consider Daley College at 75th. Consider Also there's no north south route for a mile to the east and a mile to the west.

Don't forget about the crush loads from Curie mixed with the Orange Lin Station adjacent to it. Thankfully the 81st - Orange Line trips are back now during the AM/PM rush periods to help with the overload.
Javi75
https://abc7chicago.com/amp/post/cta-green-line-passengers-rescued-stalled-train-ladder-service-disrupted-south-side/15887927/ I’ve noticed that the green line compared to other L lines has a relatively high derailment rate especially on the south side mainline. From seeing the coverage about this latest green line derailment on social media, a lot of green line riders complained that the operators are operating the trains way too fast. Especially through turns and junctions on the south side and that they speed through the turn by 63rd and Dan Ryan. What all was done during the green line rebuild in the 1990s? How come CTA didn’t do a full rebuild like the Douglas line (pink line), Dan Ryan or RPM where those segments were rebuilt from the foundation with new pillars? Would you say that a lot of the green line derailments are also due to human error especially with operators knowing that certain sections are too deteriorated? A lot of sections of the L system could use a full rebuild especially the brown line that has never had a rebuild since the start of the Ravenswood line. This latest derailment occurred just east of the Halsted station on the Ashland branch. If I remember correctly, this derailment and the one near 47th were on straightaway. I'm no expert but I wonder whether track gauge is the issue or are there undercarriage issues. If it were the latter then there should be derailment on other lines. The Green Line also has a lot of ups and downs and some "curves" on the straightaways which appears to be unique to the SSM . As far as speed through the turns, the turns have speed limits. Other than the turn on the Cottage Grove branch at 63rd, these turns aren't tight to justify a 10 mph turn. These derailment aren't on the turns. It got new tracks and most of the stations were upgraded. The structure wasn't replaced because it was built for steam engines, while Douglas wasn't and CTA said it was on the verge of collapse. Elkmn
Whenever it snows, it seems the floors of buses are always incredibly wet and/or dirty. Is there any way that the bus floors could be designed so this wouldn't be a problem?

The more people that board the worse it will get. That's the nature of the beast.
wayfaringrob
2 hours ago, Elkmn said: Is there any way that the bus floors could be designed so this wouldn't be a problem? There is a way shoe clomping can be done to mitigate the amount that gets in -- on the side of the bus when entering rather than *stomp stomp stomp* in the boarding area, which just makes a puddle that everyone walks through. I know I am just one person, and this increases dwell, but I've had bus drivers thank me for it.
