#4000 Arrives

I don't think you can tell that from where it was. It was all the way on Dempster, and since that is a way from even NP, nobody knows.
It might have even had a sign saying "626 Skokie Swift." ;) Other than that, who could tell (at least without psychoanalyzing the driver telepathically).

Good pics MVTA! Its cool to see the buses before theyre delivered. No one made a big stink about you taking pics there. If its close to MOA, where is this shop located? Might have to check it out myself one day.

Thanks, the shop is basically between 28th and 24th on american Blvd. I have walked there from the 28th ave. LRT stop so its really close. From what I could tell there wasn't anyone working there at the time so it was pretty easy to get some pics :) On weekdays though it seems busy sometimes.

Both North Park and 103rd are south of the given location at Dempster and I94, so how could anyone know for sure from analyzing the situation?
Yep. If it was going to NP, it would get off at Cicero north of Foster, which is three exits south of Dempster. Same if it were going to FG (but that has been eliminated from the betting pool at the moment).

For those of you who want virtual directions (with streetview, even).

I finally had a chance to ride on a new 4000 bus. In fact it was #4000. I boarded the bus on route 156 near Chicago/LaSalle. I have to say that I'm quite impressed with this bus. It was a really smooth ride. These are so much better than the NABI 7500's.
It seems like while the other 4000s show up on BusTracker, this one still defies detection.

North Park, if speculation holds true. Watch the Articulated North Park Bus routes and check them with Bustracker. It'll pop up sooner or later for sure.

So if that speculation is correct, does it mean CTA decided to switch it up and give NP evens instead of odds this time around?

4026 was being preped this morning at NP. There were also 3 others in the side lot but could not see the numbers.

It seems NF is jumping around with the deliveries a bit, unless we have 27 in service, which I don't believe we do. Probably the other three are lower numbered. Where's a helicopter when you need it!! Regardless this is really going to hurt the #5800 population. Maybe the glen will end up with a few more. At least they can say they have received New Flyers.

This would indicate that deliveries are quicker than first thought. However, the assumption that they are not being delivered or put in service in numeric order is undoubtedly correct, given the photographic evidence that 4019 will probably be late.

Also the absence of buses at North Park would indicate this. Santran reports 4 there, but with up to #4026 there should be 8. Also I haven't seen Kedzie's #4007, #4010 or #4011. Would this indicate some mechanical problems with these buses like #4019. Obviously, you would have them leave the assembly line in sequence. Problems found by NF would be dealt with, but would delay delivery. I know myself that the back doors on #4006 have been worked on before they hit the street. The air pressure sound in the back doors sounds different like it has been changed due to some type of maintenance. It doesn't have that sound like the rest of them from the factory. Maybe this has something to do with 5750's report awhile back in this topic (I think) where he reports an exterior difference in the doors. From what I've seen these buses have had a few problems, it should be interesting to hear what happens once they reach a heavy ridership route where they'll be worked for hours and hours like a #147. That's where we'll see with the doors and such how good and reliable these buses really are. The #156 only seems to get heavy ridership in the rush and even then half of them in the AM or PM only are in revenue traffic service in the rush period direction. At least these buses are better than the NABI's.

Again, that's not necessarily the case, since there are some reports that the number is assigned to the body, but in this case (as in most) the bodies are imported, so they might not hit the assembly line in order. At least we have confirmation about what could put them out of order once they are assembled.

I remember people who were compulsive about numerical order a couple of years ago, but recent events have disproved that theory.

I rode 4011 home yesterday from work...

As of Monday 11/24, North Park is still getting odds - 4013, 4017 & 4021 (already had 4015). No mention of 4026 at North Park on the official CTA roster yet (Samtran reported it at NP)

103rd received 4022 since Friday (already had 4012, 14 & 16)

Already had photographic exidence that 4019 would be late. Interesting that 4018, and 4020 are late as well.
