More Bus Moves

I'm not sure if these loans are in fact due to 103rd needing a bigger spare ratio for the summer pick or if its something else related to the Artics. The overall fleets looked evened out a bit except C which is at 316 buses currently. They have 107 #8350s.

It's the shell game. Now you see it, now you don't. 🤨 Nah, you guys know what"s going on.

Maybe next the MMA will transfer 1000s to Elgin garage. There is precedent, as the RTA transferred CTA roughly 9400s to Oak Park garage and then FG.

Now I'm not one to speculate but I think I may have found some reasoning behind 103rd getting loaned so much equipment last week. As seen below there is about 47 #8350s that haven't been active in over a week negating the few that haven't been active in several weeks. I wonder what the reasoning may be, I'll go out on a limb and say maintenance is the main reason. However, with the summer pick looming could this be a shift of newer buses to NP? No evidence supports my speculation but stranger things have happened. Also #1089 is at 77th currently on the 53A and #1241 has moved to 103rd currently on the 172 this morning.

But has a garage really had a significant number of buses sidelined for several weeks though just to do a swap out to a different garage for a change in pick service pattern?

The last time this happened was ironically at 103rd when most of there lower #1000s went oos for several months just to pop back up at NP/C later in the year.

Now I'm not really hell bent on garage stickers but recently I've seen a handful of buses out of 77th start popping up with Kedzie garage stickers over the past few weeks. #1353, #7924, and #8405 just to name a few. I do wonder if these are high mileage buses that will be traded away to K for the summer.

Well it's not like K wouldn't need them if the garage stickers do pan out as indicating their next assignments with summer beach service on the 35 and both 10 and 130 returning to service for the summer.

On todays bus moves update, it appears 103rd picked up a couple of DE60LFs out of North Park, 4008 is on the J14, 4007/4040 is on the 6 and 4102 also on the J14, more than likely 4004, 4103-4104, 4106 could also be at 103rd

4004 did not move it’s still north park. The other 4 moved to 103rd

1416 1417 and 1418 sent to meet up with 1419 at north park

1435 1437 1440 1442(already out) 1586 1590 and 1591 all should be heading to north park.
1574 I expect it to go to 74th but more than likely will be north park.

1028 has been repaired and is back in service on the 76

edit: 1574 is north park.

So it appears that #8639 has joined #8596 at NP. I know garage sticker don't mean much but #8596 does have the P sticker now.

CTA  can divide the remaining Novas yet to be delivered between North Park,  Kedzie,  Forest Glen,  and Chicago garages.   They can even swap out the handful of 8350s at 77th.  Hopefully they took notes from Pace and place one more non all electric bus order.
