1285 went to 74th garage

8008 at 74th garage

8255 at 74th garage

8308 at 74th garage

Idk if they are loans

Because 1006 didn't return back to 77TH GARAGE it still at 74th garage

That’s too bad, you don’t make the decisions where buses go, management does. Some are loans and others like 1006 appear to be permanent. Now, please stop with your nonsense, and act accordingly.

8255 was BOL. It's back at FG.

8008 has been at 74th since 9/25, while 8308 has been at 74th since 9/23.

Alright thanks. I'm new to this forum so I might be a bit late on certain topics.

Welcome! It’s all good. Take your time to read what’s been going on, and lately there have been loans nearly every weekday to certain garages. Those buses end up returning to their home garage the next day or a couple days after.

also, here’s a picture from my gallery of your bus:

Oh trust me. After they stopped being assigned in consistent blocks like groups of 1400s at C and 1200s, 1600-1700s at K etc I gave up. I just know who has novas, who has flyers who has artics etc. 🤣 Things are more fluid but it takes the sport out of exploring the city to find fleets that you wouldn't find at your neighborhood garage or rail line you normally take.

The irm cta site has visual maps of pull ins and pull outs that you might see us discuss along with former garages, route assignments etc. Also details route by route restructurings of the past such as the lakefront buses, before and after decrowding and the archer 2010 cuts

8063,8187 has been at 77TH GARAGE but it has a 6 sticker so I don't know if 77TH GARAGE going to remove the 6 sticker and put a 7 sticker on it or keep the 6 sticker because it might just be a loan and it might not

Alright relief and pull in time for you buddy!

Yeah, I get what you mean. The changing fleet assignments definitely make it harder to keep track of which buses are at which garages compared to when certain bus series were more consistently assigned. I find it interesting how different garages can have different fleets, and how buses can end up on routes you wouldn’t normally expect. The historical garage assignments and route changes sound really interesting too, especially being able to compare how things used to operate to how they do now.

Yeah 2008-2012 were years of a lot of odd sharing but that simmered down somewhat. We used to have 74th running 108 in the AM because 103rd had too much morning work while 74th was more of a PM heavy garage. Then after the Archer closing 77th and 103rd had to chip in on some Lakeshore service south of Belmont on 143, 151 and 134(select #2 and #3 used to do this in the past and run #151 service southbound). You'd even see Chicago runs on #151. A really wild one was a K run that pulled out to Central for a run on #77! As you can imagine having to squeeze one garage's work across the system lead to a lot of sharing thus the decrowding plan helped solved that by purging excess duplicate service. Now sharing is mainly artics being used on trippers for a route where the main garage doesn't house them. Or Western being split because you'll have the same issue as Ashland

The fleet is so homogenous now,  it doesn't even make a difference  There was a differencebetweena 3000 series Flxble. New Look and a 3700 series Flxble New Look.  There were differences between the GMC Fishbowl 7400s, 9000s, and 9600s.  When the Flxble Metros came,  CTA had a variety from the Fishbowls, to the Flyers, the NAN Americansd , MAN artics, and the TMC RTS and the 3700s were just being retired.

When I was a kid, the 69th/Ashland  garage had Flxble New Look Propane buses along with Flxble Old Looks and a handful of 1963 GMC Fishbowls in the 100 and 300 series.  Our area didn't get the diesel New Looks until the mid 70s.

I’m noticing weird moves/loans at NP. #8374 tracked on the 50 and 97 and convinced me that it was permanent because of the block pattern, then it moves back to FG. Then 8549 moves to NP from 74th and previously CG. It has no sticker. Right now #1066 tracked on the #147, and a few other new flyers from FG like #1603 and #1612 were on the X49 and I can’t even tell which is permanent or a loan anymore considering #8549 is still at North Park with no sticker.

Yeah 2012 was DEFINITELY weird, and tbh, 2016 was weird too. #1005 #1006 and some other buses were at 103rd and had 992 Road Call Block ID’s which confused the heck out of me.

Wasn’t even alive back then, but those must have been the good ol’ days.

They sure were.  And you KNEW  when a loaner was on your route.  The bus sign would read " North Terminal " " South Terminal " " East Terminal " or "west terminal."

When CTA orders new buses, it might get exciting again, especially if Gillig or Phoenix or ENC win the contract.

Gillig CTA buses would seem nice, but also kinda cursed.

As I noted in the topics on hybrid buses, Pace approved a contract for 250 Gillig hybrids and made a base order of only 8, so you know that no one would have bid on that basis unless CTA was also on board.

I take @artthouwill's comment to refer to the joint CTA-Pace solicitation for 250 BEBs, which, at the moment, closes on Oct. 16. But given all of PhoenixEV's defaults (including someone posting a CTA internal document that CTA canceled the order for 22 more), I don't think it will be them.

Bus tracker glitch. Emergency runs accidentally would be displayed if you happened to be on the tracker at the right time.

I remember before the 5000s came in the different assignments of rail cars made each line feel more unique. Also funny how a lot of people my age thought the 2200s were new 🫩🤣. When the lake shore changes happened I took a #6 by mistake instead of the new #15 trying to get to the 95E 😭

Well I was definitely alive for the 95W and 95E lol. I also remember getting excited seeing a 2200 series consist on the blue line or seeing a 5000 series on the red line 😭 they are the only thing you see on that line now lmfao.

I unfortunately grew up with the 95E and watched them run 6 in a group at 5pm faithfully 🫩😒
