I'm actually surprised that CTA would go with buses without hopper windows un case of weak a/c or a/c failure. I remember the 1000/7400/9000/9600 series fishbowls. The a/c failure got so bad CTA installed sliding windows to replace the sealed windows. They also stopped ordering buses with a/c until the 1993 Flxble 5300s. I noticed the 600 series Proterras also don't have hopper windows On 4/1/2021 at 9:59 PM, Mr.NewFlyer1051 said: well from my experience #8325-8349 have some good A/C and Heaters but this my theory i’m pretty sure the A/C and heat is good on the #8325’s because of the tinted windows so it’s keeping the air in and sunlight won’t get into the bus alot Yeah from my experience in warmer day months of riding the 8325s that are assigned to FG, the buses were definitely relatively cooler than any of those from 7900-8324 that I've been on. I also chalk part of it being due to the windows being tinted so much darker and blocking out a significant amount of sun glare. That sun glare on the others can really make the inside of the bus warm up a lot and get uncomfortably hot since the A/C in those are so weak and can't keep up with the rapid pace the sun heats the bus up. This is why I avoid the 9/X9 when possible between late spring and early fall and opt for the 49/X49 or the 50 for work and errand commutes to the south of me because it's significantly more likely to hop on a New Flyer. When I don't want to deal with the peak time traffic crawls along Damen or Western, I'll expand my options out to utilizing the 136 or 147 to take advantage of the still relatively light traffic of the Outer Drive. Anything that will limit my time on a bus from that 7900-8324 bloc of Novas during the bulk of the summer season. LOL
