Shots of #7914 and #7960. Also, I took a shot of #7963 because Clever Device Inc. (as shown on the SUV) are out here along with Prevost Mobile are programming the buses at this time being.

#7914 being inspected by a South Shop employee (for Clever Device) and Prevost Mobile:

So no #7983!!?? Could it have been mistaken for #7963? Thanks for the pictures!! In the rain!! That's some really good work and dedication there!!

The guys were f'ing jerks when I was trying to tell them about it!

Just stay cool bro, there's no need to wreck this good thing we have. They'll get to it eventually. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you like CTA calling the cops or anything. Respect their space and they should respect yours. I'm not trying to be a killjoy or anything just be careful!! B);)

It's all good mate! I didn't let that stop me from pursuing what I was doing.

7983 is definitely at 77th saw it again parked next to either 7960 I'll have a pic of it soon unless somebody beat me to the punch it was a good 7 of them parked next to each other. I know I'm a bus operator but more than anything since I was a kid I've always been a fan of cta bus and rail cars so when I see buses especially new cta buses I still get the same excitement I did as a kid lol.

They had this panel opened over the operators seat

And i made sure to try out the tank sneeze guards as I call them. Surprisingly with the door shut the cab is not as claustrophobic as it looks from the riders perspective. A few shots of the lock mechanism on the door and the map box at the bottom of it.

On the back of the bus they had an electrical plug (male) on the outside I don't quite get that as cleaning would be done on the inside. And it looked like it had two different fuel doors. kind of confusing. The bus still had the cardboard on the floor maybe I can upload more pictures of it when I find them, my phone's hard drive is full of videos.

Well, the dash panel proves that transit buses do have fuel gauges.

I may be totally wrong about this but they just may be up there for the upcoming bus roadeo.

I was just about to say that. So I guess that means with a New Flyer or 7900 at least, there should be little excuse for a bus to run out of fuel while in service.

I may be totally wrong about this but they just may be up there for the upcoming bus roadeo.

Kind of like when one of the 500s was up there when those were still new.

So far, buses that have arrived at South Shops are in these ranges(Updated 9/15):

#7900-10

#7911-20

#7921-30

#7931-40

#7950-60 (#7955)

#7960-70 (evens only, save #7966)

#7980-89

I assume that bus #'s that arrive at the Shops will be random from now on. I predict that the next bus that arrives will be in the 8000s.

It shouldn't be that random. Apparently there was some logjam, but one would assume that Nova would want to get the first shells out before getting deeper into production.

But goofy things have happened in the past, such as NABI 7504 showing up with the 7700s, but since I didn't have a camera, some people didn't believe me.

I'll also cite some precedent to BusHunter's queries in several locked threads about what happens if, say, 8010 shows up out of order. In the case of the original Novas, 77th originally got up to about 6549, but pretty much anything over the 65teens eventually went to Archer. Similarly, scattered NABIs including 7568 were at 103rd, but eventually those over about 7549 left 103rd.

I guess that the same pattern could repeat itself with the Smart Buses. Some low 8000s could be temporarily assigned to 77th, and then migrate elsewhere, such as Archer  . But seriously, does anyone know if operator training is scheduled for any of the other garages any time soon?

We'll know when we see one bus at a certain garage, but you would think Chicago had some advance training on the #7900's. They had #7900 for a few months. I say their next. Looks like FG is having a hard time getting a NF, not to mention a #7900. Something tells me when they replace the #6600's at 74th most will go to the scrapper. It's probably going to end up mostly #6500's, #6700's and #6800's that sticks around for the final 150 buses.

I think FG will get a injection of 74th's Novas at some point. Whatever is still roadworthy(def. not 6625, see earlier post here) will replace whatever has met the mileage marker for retirement at FG or just can't go no more. That could be 6400's, 6500's, 6600's and 6876-6883 from 74th. It's just a matter of separating the capable, the barely able and the unable into three groups at both FG and 74th and combining all the capables and barely ables into one garage(namely FG) and they'll remain like this until sometime in 2015 when something will be phased in to replace the tiring Novas(7900's, New Flyers). That'll be determined by CTA Brass no doubt.

6625 is an example of barely able, bordering on unable(unless it finally gave out... I didn't see it on any 74th routes this evening, and there were several Novas on 74th routes, Ashland included)
