MetroShadow
There's too many routes now for them to all have their same thread, what with OMSI's Chicago map, The Racetrack, nlewis7000's Metra Electric route, NJCL, my CTA project, they wouldn't all fit in one thread. Especially for nlewis's and my projects where we require feedback and ongoing discussion, having other simulator routes amidst those would just be distracting. It's been brought to my attention about creating a subforum (and I'm in support of it, for the record), we can move forward at a later date. It's a smaller frequency than, say, NYC's Forum (which does a lot with trainz and OpenBVE); but there's some forward motion to bring it here thanks to you guys.
Fan Railer
This is the DTG New Jersey Transit North Jersey Coast Line ALP-46 (46A) & Comet Car Physics & Sound Mod Pack V1.0In order to utilize this freeware physics & sound upgrade, you must have purchased the "Train Simulator: NJT ALP-46 Loco Add-On" available here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258658/This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics & sound enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.THIS IS BOTH A PHYSICS AND SOUND UPGRADE PACK.The purpose of this pack is to make minor physics adjustments to the ALP-46 locomotive, include an ALP-46A Physics set and road numbers, and introduce more accurate sounds for the DLC.Version 1.0 includes updated horn and bell sounds from Chris Reynolds (MilwaukeeNorth418). Many thanks to him for allowing me to use his sounds free of charge for this mod.Version 2.0 will include the signature JohnS brake fix.General Parameter Change Log (Physics):1. Slight tweak of TE and Dynamic Brake curves.2. Include physics and road numbers for ALP-46A; follow instructions below to switch between physics.General Parameter Change Log (Sounds):1. New K5LA horn and steel bell recorded directly off of an ALP-46 unit.2. New Comet IV door chime included.3. Replaced default traction motor sounds and code with custom code and new traction motor sounds (for both ALP-46 and ALP-46A).4. Includes option to choose between stell bell and e-bell; follow instructions below to switch between bells.5. Removes the annoying non-mono brake sounds from the Comet cars.Technical specifications for ALP-46/46A:1. Bombardier ALP-46 (5480 kW THP; GTO Inverters) a. Run TS2016 to confirm.User's Manual:Physics Swap; upon initial download, the pack defaults to ALP-46 road numbers, physics, and motor sounds. To switch between 46 and 46A #s, physics, and motor sounds, follow the steps listed below:1. Locate and open the following three directories: a. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NJT-Alp46\RailVehicles\Electric\Alp46\Default" b. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NJT-Alp46\RailVehicles\Electric\Alp46\Simulation" c. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NJT-Alp46\Audio\RailVehicles\Electric\ALP46\Engine\TractionMotors"2. To switch between bells, follow the steps listed below:1. Locate and open the following directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\NJT-Alp46\Audio\RailVehicles\Electric\ALP46\Exterior\Horn&Bell"2. Within that directory that you just opened, you will see two folders; "Steel Bell" and "E-bell"3. Open the folder for the corresponding bell you wish to use and copy (CTRL + C) all contents within.4. Proceed back to the directory from step 1 and paste (CTRL + V) the contents you copied into said directory; overwrite if/when asked.5. Bell swap should be complete; run TS2016 to check.NOTE: For added realism, remember that the ALP-46 can use both the e-bell and steel bell, but the ALP-46A only comes equipped with the e-bell, so if running with 46A physics, #s, and motor sounds, make sure you've selected the e-bell as well.Thank you for downloading and installing. Please contact me if there is a problem with the functionality of this mod pack.Enjoy =)Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/v1go2laq8afpe0f/TS2016_DTG_NJT_ALP-46_Sound_And_Physics_Mod.rarNew Facebook Page for these mods: http://www.facebook.com/FanRailerMODS
Fan Railer
This is the Chicago & Southwest Productions Metra EMD F40PH-3 Locomotive & Nippon Sharyo Gallery Cab Car Comprehensive Modification pack version 2.0 In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "The Racetrack: Aurora - Chicago Route Add-On" pack available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258648/This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics and sound enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose. This is BOTH sound mod and physics mod pack. The purpose of this pack is to adjust the physics performance of the EMD F40PH-3 locomotive and the associated Gallery Cab Car.This pack also replaces the mediocre stock bell sounds with authentic bell sounds (exterior and interior versions) for both the cab car and the locomotive. This pack also replaces the door sounds (audible only while in the cab car at the moment). Sounds sourced to Tyler Johnston.Sound NOTE: The interior bell sound on the locomotive is very soft, so if it is barely audible, that's the way it's supposed to be. Also, once again, you will only hear the door chime if you are operating from the cab car. You will NOT hear it if you are operating from the locomotive.SIDE NOTE: To obtain Metra logo and decals for rolling stock, download this pack: http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/download-library/accessories?view=document&id=1858:metra-signage-logos&catid=24:accessories (http://www.facebook.com/groups/720469151375805/files/)List of general changes for v2.0 release (from the v1.0 release):1. MTRSP1900-CTA3200
They're releasing the NJT multilevel cars for TS2016 soon (possibly in about a week). Obviously I'm not sure if they can be used with the Metra route (will the trap doors open properly?), but I thought some people here would be interested. I know I am! Engine Driver page with more info. Loaner train for Metra maybe?

I'm not sure what effect it has on the game, but it is somewhat strange that the doors are at the ends of the cars, and essentially at the 1-1/2 level, instead of in the middle and at grade, like most Bombardier cars. Is NJT like the Metra Electric and uses only high platforms? Maybe only a loaner for ME, but these appear to be trailer cars.

NJT uses Penn Station and Newark Station, both high level platform stations. I believe that they also use low level platforms as well, hence the trapdoors. As for the loner joke, it could work in theory, as the MultiLevels are pulled by diesel locomotives in regular service (ALP-45DP), but boarding could be a pain compared to normal Metra cars. On pictures such as this, it looks like an extra door on the cab end that might have a covered trap, but the Metra diesel lines definitely could not use the marked wheelchair doors over the trucks, and, at a minimum, would not be accessible. I forgot to specify that accessibility would be the key problem here, but you are correct. Unless Metra wanted to be ridiculous and develop "catering truck" style wheelchair lifts that could drive up to the door for loading wheel chairs. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Government mandate with no funding. And on the flip side, people expect the government to spend millions on making every station ADA compliant when most stations have little to no use by ADA passengers. As far as the manual crank lift, besides delaying the train, I suppose it could be dangerous if something unusual happened, and of course, NICTD would be liable.
