Well i have some bad news. We can add 3 more good buses to the bye bye list.5555 5682 and 5769. Were park in the deadline today. I will miss driving 5555 very much.

I will miss #5555, but not as much as #5769. 5769 was a regular on #53 Pulaski and #76 Diversey so I used to see that bus often. I will miss it very much. I will also miss #5682.

Looks like various persons screen names are biting the dust (4400, 5555, pace2322) unless any of them were tributes.

I'm saddened that 5769 is out of the roster. That was a good bus to ride on when the bus was still at Archer, especially riding it on Western Avenue. This will be missed well.

Flxible #5750 is certainly missed by this busfan. The 4400s and 6000s will also be missed as well. :(

In their early years, 5750 and Americana 4003 if I'm not mistaken had liveries with a similar shade of blue as that in the reflective paint CTA started using at the time the TMCs were being rehabbed. I don't think that paint was reflective though.

Some pics from the Flxible lovers yahoo group. I did not take these but am quite sure they're not copyrighted.

I honestly did not know that, thanks for the tip. Photos are by Jeffrey Rutan.

Down to 23 now as of 11/07/08

Does anyone know which 23. Went by there today and there were about 10 buses just sitting out back. Some already mentioned as retired. One that was not listed was 5442.

I live two and a half blocks from that intersection in the photos. Anyway, nice pictures.

Would this be the list of buses left?

Flxible #5750 makes a very brief cameo in the MBS 2002 Convention video. Ill never forget seeing that bus pull into JPK with my reliefs run number, stepping aboard, setting the run number and pulling out of JPK, driving that bus for five hours, two trips to downtown on the #56 Milwaukee. That was the one and only time I ever drove the Flxible Cummins.

 I might be crazy but I swear I saw #5691 on Division and Ashland Monday afternoon. The number on the front of the bus was off center. Could this bus been unretired???

This is very weird as I couldn't find #5691 on any of Bushunter's lists in this thread dating back to March 2008, so according to the roster sheets he's using it's been gone before the spring pick of this year. But again, there is still the possibility for it to have been sitting at South Shops for a year and off the active roster, and now it's back from the dead.

 I'm starting to think I might have been looking at 5601, seeing that is the only number where a single misread number would make it appear to be 5691. I was just in shock to see two of them on the same corner. 5596 was westbound.

You most definitely saw 5601 Monday because I was driving it!

What a festive scene. Now, if you only had the headsign with Santy Claus's sleigh.

Or if you're the jolly type who does the Santa "Ho-Ho-Ho's", only thing after the second "Ho", the engine dies and you can't get it started again, then the third "Ho" becomes a "Do'h!!!".

*T8H5307A leaves bus, opens engine cover and strangles a hose in the engine yelling "Why you little....!!!"*

That may be the last photo of 5601 in service.

It seems that bus is done for.

The number of active 5300s right now is higher than the number of active 4400s.

Just spotted a pretty busted up #5448 leaving JPK on X54.
