jacksone44
Looks like more lower 1600s making it to Kedzie. A few 1610s from NP (1615, 1617 and 1619) along with 1620s odd to go with the evens from months ago had already made their way to Kedzie. Plus I thought 1608 was at 74th most recently rather than 103rd, or was it just odd numbered 1600s originally at NP that were recently sent to 74th when some lower 6200s got sent to 103rd? Only 1601 and 1603 are at 74th. The evens never made it to 74th.

jacksone44
4042 and 4046 were out on the 156 today. I guess a couple are coming back to Kedzie from out south, for the SECOND time....
jajuan
Spotted 1616 on the 12, so that's 1608, 1614, 1616, and 1618 spotted newly assigned at Kedzie so far.
BusHunter
Well I guess the transfering of buses has begun. #4055 is showing up as a #145 on Bustracker. Sounds like kedzie is getting artics from NP while NP gets new ones. I have a feeling #4150 may be heading to NP. I think it was only at Kedzie for the press conference. CTA seems to be allergic to press conferences at outdoor garages.
BUSANGEL#1
Chicago Bus Alert FYI:I bring to you good tidings for forest glen, 50 flyers are arriving soon from 77th with a swap of novas or maybe 6000s. So now the flyer curse will end at forest glen 4 now.

trainman8119
Please be 50 Novas to 77th. That sounds like it would about be the balance of the 6800s, no ????
sw4400
Also, #1229 is on the #X80 right now. Got proof(photographic or bustracker)? I just scanned the X80 and #80 via Bustracker and no #1229 shows up, just Flxibles and NOVA's.

wordguy
1229-1233 had been assigned to Kedzie. Most likely they became available as additional 4000s from NP arrived at Kedzie. Those NFs were probably dispatched to FG to help relieve their ongoing shortage of buses. Interesting though, that 1200s were sent there instead of 6000s. Could those 1200s possibly be "table-setters" for an influx of additional 1200s from 77th, in exchange for 6000s or 6800s or a combination of both? Only time will tell, I guess. Not only is Forest Glen involved in this, but North Park may be as well; 1616 is on the #147 as I type this. If my memory serves me well from all these bus movements, it was a Kedzie bus after being transferred from 103rd. UPDATE:Spotted 1616 on the 12, so that's 1608, 1614, 1616, and 1618 spotted newly assigned at Kedzie so far. Yes it was a former Kedzie bus. ryanbytes
I caught sight of a New Flyer waiting to make a left onto Central from Elston not too long ago. It looked to start a Central run if the destination sign was right. ETA: I just caught it or another New Flyer on Bus Tracker.
geneking7320
I guess its about time for Flyers now being at Forest Glen. But Send some 6000s to 77th. If 6000s are sent to 77th how many years will it have been since the last one left?
Busjack
If 6000s are sent to 77th how many years will it have been since the last one left? Not that long ago. It would have been when the 25 or so in the 6070s thru the 6090s went from 77 to 103. The posts about the Black Pearl Workshop bus being seen at 103rd would put that shortly before 2006. But, I'm sure others have the dates. I'm starting to believe the "setting up 6000s to be replaced by 4000s" theory again, although I think we would have to get into the base order of the up to 900 to make significant headway on that. But, maybe the 4000s now received are somewhat sufficient to start that process.

But, maybe the 4000s now received are somewhat sufficient to start that process. I'm starting to wonder if there's going to be an exclusive Articulated garage or two soon, given the possible 900 additional New Flyer DE60LF's that may* come to the CTA soon. With the DE60LF's replacing some 4400's, 5300's(1st 150) and all the 6000's eventually(the additional 900 on order), we'll be short 40-foot buses as the NOVAs and the D40LF's will be the only short buses left(aside from the even shorter Optimas). We would have 1,534 40-foot buses^, 45 30-foot buses^, and 1,050 60-foot buses*^. Right now we have 1,864 40-foot buses^, 45 30-foot buses^, and 150 60-foot buses~ *=If all options are exercised ^=Quantity reflects original total, some buses may be retired ~=Delivery is still ongoing, current total is changing
Busjack
I'm starting to wonder if there's going to be an exclusive Articulated garage or two soon, given the possible 900 additional New Flyer DE60LF's that may* come to the CTA soon....The real question is not the numbers, but what territory each garage serves. One could think of NP or 77, but NP still has to serve Evanston, 11, 93, 96, 97; 77 would probably still serve 1 and 2, although I suppose that they could be shifted to Archer in exchange for some other route. But, on the 77 side, I could still see 3, X3, 4, X4, 6, 79 and 87 going all artic, either based on that NABIs were sometimes on those routes or the 3 for 4 rationale. I don't see the Novas being that appropriate on those routes, given the lack of seating. Also, 77 is the only place where there seems to be sufficient land to store any fleet increase in articulateds. We keep raising the issue whether that many more articulateds would require more garage space, but that doesn't get answered by an official source. wordguy
Did NF #1618 got transfer to North Park because I saw today on #151 to Foster. Yes it did. It looks as if 1615-1618 just migrated to North Park from Kedzie within the past day or two. (Not sure about 1619). 1615 and 1617 had originally been assigned to NP, but were transferred to Kedzie maybe a tad over a month ago. Now they're back!
