I imagine it will be out for awhile well they fix it.http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-yellow-line-cta-20150518-story.html Since last fall, the Sanitary District has been doing a huge construction project on their land north of the Swift tracks up to Oakton & from McCormick west to the Skokie miniature golf course, which is just east of the CTA Skokie Shops, but on leased land from the Sanitary District.Some people have insisted that a Meijer store was being built, but from the Tribune article, it's a disinfectant addition to the sewage treatment plant which is currently all south of the Swift tracks.The land the construction is on was bought from Northern Illinois Gas Co. maybe 30 years ago & NiGas still has a compressor plant on a section of the property that you can see from the Swift. They were talking on the news like fixing the embankment, Com Ed and then CTA would be a pretty big engineering job.Separately from the 5000 deliveries, hopefully nothing major happens where they would require work equipment that is normally kept at the Skokie Shops, or perhaps there is redundant equipment somewhere else in the system. I'm assuming they get re assigned but seeing the yellow line is probably a high seniority pick I'm sure they don't want to do a red line run . I was looking at Kimball for a drop and drive point. Drop them, pair them and drive them "Not In Service to the North Side Main Line to Belmont, switch to the Howard-bound track and continue Not In Service to Howard Yard, where they can do a thorough inspection and put into service. At least 54th has a shop as well as capacity to receive deliveries. Lower 6 3rd is truck friendly, but with no maintenance facility, new cars would have to be driven or pulled to another facility of which only 54th has the capacity to receive.
