Maybe there's a chance the CTA could put a 4400, 5300 and 6000 into the Heritage Collection, though they're no Fishbowl or New Look.

I do once recall while we were refueling our Flx  I seem to remember seeing a 9400 GMC at 77th about two years ago. I wondered if they were preserving it It looked in pretty good shape from the view I had

I also forgot to mention #1186 is getting rebuilt and the body has gotten re-fabricated in the areas it received damage. It still has a long way to go but should return to service by the end of the year to early next year. It was out and about yesterday moving under its own power from shop to shop.

Hopefully it comes back even stronger

After taking a interior tour of the bone yard at south shops today, #1305 (Engine fire),#1821 (Accident),#1993 (Engine fire)  and #4167 (Accident) have been officially retired and stripped for parts. #1805 may receive a second overhaul since it is still sitting on the south fence at 79th but I can't think past it getting anything done either. #6470 is surprisingly the new instruction bus sitting along the south fence, #6585 and #6696 WB1 and WB2 may also be getting retired soon as well, #6621 is sitting in the boneyard but my return to active service. With more #6400's getting removed from south shops #4000's are starting to take up space in the yard along with a few #4300's, none have visible damage but are just there for heavy maintenance.

It's interesting that you should mention bus 6470 because there is something unique about it.  It is the last of the buses with the flip dot display screens which seem to be in perfect condition, including the front, side, and back display screens.  If nothing else, the display screens could be used for the Nova bus in the heritage fleet.

There's a Nova in the heritage fleet? Or do you mean the community bus?

When I saw and rode 6470 in 2018, the rear flip dot sign had said 72 on it. I thought 6466 was one of the ones that had the perfect flip dot sides.

#1300 is OOS for an unknown crime or accident. I can't recall if that bus was involved in a bb/pellet shooting earlier this past week on King Drive on 63rd though from what I heard one operator tell me. The bus has crime tape all over it and a semi shattered windshield.

Dam I hope it's nothing too serious to have it on legal hold like 1972

I think thats a great addition to create dedicated "Training Buses" I have a couple friends wh work at Metro in Los Angeles  They have buses dedicated to training purposes only. I remember some being NF High Floor D40s, RTS and other models. Past models included GM Old and New look buses. I believe they still have on the property

#1300 is back in service. I also wanted to point out that #804 may return to service soon, with more #4000's and #4300s getting serviced now it may get some work done on it. It's moved around quite a bit in the past week or so in the boneyard.

804 is a bounce around bus I say 1 day it's at K next day it's at SS then back at K
