Zooming in Windows Picture Viewer doesn't help. As far as temp plates, once title passes at 7801 S, Vincennes, they would have to get a certificate of title and put on Illinois plates. 1 hour ago, BusHunter said: Only Garmon can tell us what he saw at SS. This is the holiday weekend though, it sounds like it's getting delivered kind of late if so. I wonder if the drivers get holiday pay? Do they consider the return trip as part of the on the job time. That might be one reason why they delivered so early to make sure all drivers were back by the holiday. Hmmmm, either that shot was taken before it arrived here or after it arrived here.....

I don't think there would be any reason to go back to Hammond. Diesel fuel seems about the same price, although there might have been some motor fuel tax reason to load up in Indiana. Probably the delivery driver had to take care of other "immediate business" before driving the last 10 miles.

It sounds like the cracks were known of shortly after delivery but the replacement fishbowls that Flyer sent to the CTA as short term loans were in 1987. But in the link I state a replacement date for #9822 as 1986. So indeed they were delivered. One could argue that #1614 was rejected, but why would they go through testing it here, that almost seems like an acceptance. Seems the initial blame might have been Chicago streets causing this. This gets back to a question Busjack would pose, like why would they still receive buses they knew had cracks. Sounds to me that it may not be so easy to send back rejections, you almost need some kind of document of the court to say they are indeed defective, because a company is not willingly going to take a loss as this will hurt their bottom line. So they were stuck for 3 years with buses that should have been returned or repaired. I remember #9890 having the black grab handles too and I know that was a characteristic of the #9900's/#1600's. i never could figure out why that was. Actually the cracks started appearing within weeks. Not all had even been delivered yet. And definitely there was a question whether the streets here were responsible. the one time I saw 1614 out and about was at Wacker and Wabash, with all kinds of wires on it. Looked like a CTA driver was driving it, but somebody else was sitting inside, probably monitoring the gauges. CTA would be best ones to provide Flyer with a driver as these tests went on for at least a couple of weeks, even though the bus was still Flyer's property. I remember the 20 "loaners", 10 ex New Orleans and 10 ex Calgary, all TDH5303's except one TDH5301. They had been somewhere else before CTA, as the NO ones were in all different colors. CTA refused to do anything but the most basic maintenance, such as checking fluids, so by the time they left they were in truly sad shape. It does appear that all 199 were put into service BEFORE the modifications in 1987.

artthouwill
I saw a bunch of Novas along the fences on 79th and on Vincennes. Among them was 8260. There were no less than 15 of them. All of them are backed in along the fences.

BusHunter
Yeah he was wrong about #8238 coming to FG on 7/2, but it did appear on the #77 yesterday (7/3), so we'll give him 50 percent credit. I thought maybe no new buses would go in service until 7/5 but I guess I was wrong.

BusHunter
So now #8209, #8212, #8219, #8229 are assigned fo Chicago according to maths tracker? (look at it!!) Or is Fg helping out the #66? I wish they wouldn't say it was being ran out of Chicago though, that's confusing. Now if only 4 #8100's came to FG, (pretty please!!) that would be awesome. I hate these #8200 seats!! It's time's like this one could use a magic genie.

And since it's still probably Chicago operators that are likely logging into the buses in this case, math's tracker won't distinguish that. It gets down to the same thing of run numbers identifying the home garage of the operator and not that of the bus itself. Speaking of which, four 74th Novas 8017, 8021, 8045 and 8060 are on the #124 this evening as well helping out Kedzie on that route. Also add NP to 74th and 77th contributing buses to the #29. It contributed both artics and a few 40 foot NFs. FG also contributed a bus, #8232, to the #65. Kedzie and NP also each contributed an artic to #65, buses 4006 and 4345. BusTracker indicates they did the full route this time, starting at 95th and heading north to Navy Pier. Well make that Grand/Peshtigo. With so many extra buses tonight heading to to the vicinity of Navy Pier, CTA is short turning all the Navy Pier terminating bus routes at Streeter and starting the in the opposite direction at Peshtigo as of &;45 up until about 11 tonight since the Navy Pier bus terminal won't hold all the buses headed that way. Also FG actually contributed a total of ten buses to the #66. The four BH mentioned along with 8202, 8208. 8223, 8232, 8233. and 8246.
