Yeah I guess if you want the story now you have to PM me. I did some research about the story we're not supposed to talk about and a CTA manager has said that the story is true. Now back to your regular programming schedule.

The key, without it needing to be spelled out, being just leave it alone as far as the forum goes. Probably shouldn't hint at keeping it going in the site messaging system. But anyway, any progress observed on further deliveries of 7900s?

This topic has gone dry lately, so I'll ask...

  • Any new sightings of Novas at South Shops? Has the newest bus on the roster, 7908(arrived @ South Shops 7/25/14) been put onto the active 77th roster? Have any other new 7900's appeared at South Shops to be inspected and put into service?
  • Are the current roster of 7900-Series Novas(7900,7901,7904,7907,7910,7920,7924,7925,7927) still in service on 77th routes or have they disappeared from active service?

Usually, I see posts from members about these buses on 77th routes, sometimes with photos to go with the posts. These are the newest buses on CTA property, so they should be the talk of the town, like the 5000's are on the rail side.

Things have been very quiet with the 7900's lately........

That's because the construction at Shop Shop is making it hard for me to spot any new Novas. Also, I haven't been out there since Wednesday and no news about #7908 being in service.

That's understandable, garmon. I was also referring to general posts from members who say, for example...

"I saw 7904 on #3 this afternoon"

Something along those lines. If you go back into the topic, there's lots of posts like these, some with pics of the buses, most without. Construction at South Shops may make it difficult to see buses parked along the fencing. Last post like that was here, about ten days ago.

I understand where you're coming from but hell, there isn't any new ones in service as of lately. Hopefully there will be some in service when the Fall picks begins.

Hmm.. I wonder why?

#7904 is on the 2 heading north on State St and #7910 is on the 1 heading westbound, also #7924 is on the 3

7924 is still out after rush hour. May become a night car but I doubt that.

Are you sure that's not #7908? Or was #7909, #7908 all along?

It's #7909. Let's not forget about #7924 unprecedentedly began service ahead of fully equipped #7925.

It shouldn't be any excuse why we yet to see #7908 in service.

Either way that apparently means there's one more 7900 in service to add to the roster based on BusHunter's latest roster update not having either one of those.

only in service buses make the rosters, that's why it's not on there. But I never did add #6507. (Ok #6507 is back on there)

I know that. I was saying it looks like one more bus that you can ADD to the rosters.

Take this for what it's worth, but SEPTA in Philadelphia is also reporting some delays in receiving their Nova artics and 40-ft buses. This is based on comments in the Philadelphia-based bus fan groups on Facebook.

One of the posters is a driver at one of the garages expected to get new Nova artics; he was reporting that there are some rear axle leak issues with some of the buses and that SEPTA has stopped accepting new buses until the issues are resolved.

I don't know if CTA is having the same issues with the 7900s, but that appears to be one likely scenario for the delays in the order.

#7910's destination sign indicated "CHICAGO IS" "MY KIND OF TOWN" while operating #79 this morning.

That sorta goes back (at least 10 years).

That's what I've been told also about the SEPTA buses. As far as CTA, #7909 must have came with #7908, but in order to stop delivery wouldn't they have to reject a bus to make it official? This is why I'm interested to see if #7908's still here or not.
