Strange #803 has an updated clever device, but they never changed the interior lights.

#804 Is the same as #803.

#807 and #808 don't have the updated lights either. It just seems like #800 and #806 has it. I still have yet to see #802 though.

1553 is on the road again.  I actually eyeballed it yesterday.   It looks as if the front end may have been rebuilt.

Thanks for the update!!! I'll change it's status from retired to active. That leaves #1305 as a lone duck in the yard.

Here's a few shots of #1553. I didn't really notice nothing odd about it just it has no ad frames or ad signage at all.

Now why would they do this???

Not sure what you mean by "this." Pace used to send buses to Adelman's, but their business seems to have been hurt after the owner was arrested.

On the other hand, I don't know why the route sign isn't working.

In the best case scenario, the route sign is just turned off for some reason.

In the worst case scenario, the entire sign is missing from the bus.

I can't tell 100%, but I'm leaning towards the latter since the black frame around the sign looks like it's also missing.

By "this", he means the entire rear route number box is missing from the bus.

I'm sitting here saying, "How did he missed that?". xD

I noted that the sign was not working.

But I still need

rear.jpgxD

It also took me 10 minutes to find how to rotate WordArt. The rotate handle was not on that object.

1000 is running brand new I’m on it right now as I type on the 78 Montrose and everything inside and outside looks brand new nothing is wrong with this bus you guys might be talking about the 1000 Series retiring because you either see them out of 77th or 74th which those 2 garages don’t take any good care of their flyers and novas for cr*p.....C, K, FG, NP, 103rd take really good care of their buses

And this is why D40LFs will not be retiring anytime soon.  I don't know why some are trying to start rumors.

Being in 77th's and 74th's territory I beg to differ on that one, every garage has a bad batch of buses with a multitude of issues if they didn't take good care of them then you would see a lot of short term loans coming down to the south side to help out. If anything the only bad bunch of buses that I can recall is the 8000's. Some are literally falling apart from the interior while the rest have terrible A/Cs and always seem to break down. Hell i've seen more 8000's broken down than the new flyers this past year alone. The only Novas that run well out of 74th are the 8200's which is shocking to me. Minus the gear ratios set on most of 74th's D40LFs they run pretty smooth, 77th is a different story but most of the D40LF's  and LFS's run just fine in my opinion, don't mistake the bad routes some of these buses run on which then turns into these buses are being poorly managed by there home garage crap. Sometimes the routes make the buses feel worse than what they already are. Unless you're driving out of those garages what can you really say......

I agree. For instance, about 2-3 years ago, every bus on State St from 95th to 69th was a bad bus, the quality of the road was in such terrible condition (although the 29 is a 103rd route, most people aren't going to know that). Same thing on 75th from at least South Chicago to Eberhart, good lord, I remember being young and knowing the Flxibles on that route was hell.

Exactly, I've been on nearly all of the southside routes and throughout the years I haven't seen much of a repave on most of the major streets unless there in small 1 to 2 miles sections. Living right around Ashland near 95th is a nightmare, from 95th all the way down to maybe Belmont is nothing but rough roads and untreated pothole cities, there's a one mile stretch that did get a recent repave a few years back from 71st  to 63rd and that is nearly back to the same old rough terrain that it once was, the 8000's take one hell of a beating on Ashland but that's just one of many routes where buses take a beating. I remember riding #6877 on route 54A a few months ago and the ride felt as if the bus was brand new based on the roads itself along with the moderate condition of the bus, riding along Skokie blvd felt like I was riding on cloud 9 vs riding on Route 9. xDxDxD
