29 was bought in to 103rd with the 95W in 2008 because at the time 103rd had the most rush hour/swing shift work so a lot of rush hour only work moved out to get more straight runs and lower the splits. Part of a Huge rebalancing at the time Which saw NP get rid of the few Belmont 151s it did have, along with handing over the 145/148 combo and 125 over to Kedzie. Remember 74th taking over the #108 in the AM rush to reduce the load on 103rd?

Yeah I remember when 74th did those AM trippers, it surreal seeing #6000s out on South Halsted again during that time. I kind of wish 77th still did trippers on the 71 though because service along that corridor sucks.

The operator probably asked for it.

But why would they approve a crazy request ?? I can see 79 or 87 cause those night cars start in a part of the day when it’s busy or work well into the morning but N5 pull outs are basically right as the service starts and the one trip that isn’t starting as a 95 never runs an artic route. This pick the 4th run is from 71st compared to the usually state or S Michigan

When Limits closed,  the 145 and the 151 short trips and the 156 went to K as NP took on all 36 trips (Limits did the Waveland short trips)..

I remember 74th doing that.   It didn't make sense to me then.  Given your explanation,  I fillow the reason but it still seems weird.

Yeah I remember that but I also remember NP having 145/148 for whatever amount of time until the spring pick of 2008 cta decided to move 145/148 Back to K along with the few Belmont runs that NP still had. Then of course the 2010 cuts sent some of those 145/148 runs back to NP where they were split until the decrowding allowed enough hours freed up to move all of north LSD service north of Belmont at NP. The 2010 cuts also very briefly sent a PM run or two on 151 back to NP. As far as I remember K never had exclusive control over 151 Belmont’s until a pick or two after the 2010 cuts and the financial issues of 2007-2010 really shuffled those routes and the degree of work the garages picked up to vary until decrowding consolidated routes that pretty much went the same places save for minor differences at the ends (I.e 145/146)

Yeah it’s weird cause of location but at the time 103rd needed to get rid of a LOOOOOT of AM work to balance requirements. By taking 108 out of 103rd and moving it to 74th which is a PM heavy garage, that allowed 74th to use buses that wouldve been sitting idle to cover a shortage while 103rd took in 29 and 95W to have more straight shifts instead of having a higher normal of splits and swings compared to other garages

Besides the 108, 103rd really didn't get rid of a lot of splits.  Most splits were due to the high volume nature of the 6, 14, and the 106.  Some 14s deadheading back to 103rd (either for another 14 run or to the garage) ran 106 from 95th.  The 106 was a heavy a n. rush route serving Corliss High school and Olive Harvey College.  The 29 did allow the opportunity to turn some runs from splits to straights.

K and NP would also have a higher number of splits due to the nature of its LSD and downtown shuttles, some of which were shifted to other garages.

The Archer closing sent massive Shockwave throughout the system and took some years to get it right.

103rd also handled the metra shuttles prior to the pick and moved those out with 108. The work was being balanced around the system but 103rd was quoted to have the highest percentage at that time.

I blame 77th for taking some of 103rd's artics

77th has actually lost artics since the summer pick started to various garages including 103rd. The majority of 103rds artics are currently at SS getting major work done on them. 103rd has gained a few back from SS since the summer pick started though. I took these snap shots a few days ago just to give you some better perspective on what's going on @Policeman.

It’s the pandemic not 77th taking artics. If anything 77th’s artics are primarily from Kedzie. North Park and Kedzie need their artics back with the city reopening but because the plan was for only 103, K and P to have artics after discovering artics fail on local routes unless they can bump the frequency down as was done on Clark, Sheridan and Roosevelt it’s a lot of improvising. Now cta apparently decided 79th, cottage, Pulaski and a few others might have ways to make artics work so if we see artics stat at 7 and C after the fall pick then it might be a hint that artic standards might have been altered as a result.hell if As I survived a pandemic where crowding played a part in getting people sick I’d surely advocate for more few more just to control my ability to provide service to essentials

I'll say this is as random as it gets. An artic on 63rd. Well sort of ????. I don't know what #4030 is doing here at the 63rd red line station but there's an operator sitting on the bus for whatever reason. I'm not sure if the bus is broke down or if it's a shuttle of some sorts.

Andre mentioned a while back artics on 63rd would’ve been a possibility through using RAD extras but that was for the pick where 71 was using all artics
