Considering how there are no issues now, at least nothing publicly reported, I don’t see how that’d change. I’m sure any trespassing concerns can be mostly solved via a Hercules fence

Shit but you do be hearing gun fire from there but I've been over there when I heard it & just stood there & look to see where the shots was coming from

A bit off topic, but Parkway Gardens is also notably owned by Related Properties, which generally focuses on large high-end properties in major downtown areas.

Based on this Sun-Times article it seems that their ownership of the property is basically used as leverage with politicians to support their big projects like the now dead casino at Clark & Roosevelt and Lincoln Yards.

So reported. However, I wonder how really proximate Parkway Gardens denizens are to something that has been out of bounds rapid transit property for about 125 years.

Based on the presentation to which @NewFlyerMCIlinked, this is replacing some other CTA facility, although not the 61st St shop that burned a long time ago.

Looks like @Shannon CVPImight be getting something he wants, but not from a source he would appreciate (Ald. La Spata proposes using CTA bus cameras to ticket drivers that block bus lanes, stops).

Despite what the article says, CTA buses already have the cameras.

This would be wonderful. The next thing that is need is brown pavement bus only lanes from Chicago to 25th on Michigan Avenue.

The questions are

1.  Who is going to look through the footage to find violators?

2. In @Shannon CVPIexamples, he cutes CPD as the biggest offenders.  How will the city determine if a squad car at a bus stop deserves a ticket and who, if anyone will be liable for the citation if one is given?

I suppose the same people who look through CTA video to find other perps, and who looks at red light camera video, Ring video, and the like. The questions are how many more it would take and what would impel them to do it. Since a lot of law enforcement depends on license plate readers, it  shouldn't be that difficult to automate.

Sounds similar to when CTA drivers were caught running red lights. The city pays itself and then disciplines the offenders. I don't know if FOP has the contractual right to object.

I will be honest it's a nice plan on paper but pointless in the real world here's why it won't speed up service when cta continues runs with 20+ mins gaps like they been doing even before the pandemic for 2 they won't enforce it right while anyone will have to pay a ticket if they are seen riding in it the pointless lanes or parked at the bus stop zone the law break ass police won't have to pay a ticket cause it's boot lickers out here that think just cause the police they can't do no wrong & can do whatever they want like what I've experienced at the 11th district on Harrison & kedize what I know @YoungBusLover experienced on the 4 at 63rd & Cottage at when the law breakers park in the bus stop zone to get lunch or breakfast & what any driver that runs out of 6 doing the 63 at the same spot just like this

I got blocked in by a traffic stop one time while working the 4 with an artic and I just couldn't understand why he would do a traffic stop right there in front of the bus stop at 63rd and Cottage. I had a boatload of seniors waiting on me walkers, canes and wheelchairs and I couldn't just pick them up in the street without fearing one of them falling and getting injured so I had no choice but to curb that bus behind the traffic stop.

Carrie! Isn't necessary the cops fault. Whenever a cop pulls someone over, it's wherever the person pulls over  which generally is the first opening they see.  To go beyond that subjects the motorists to additional grief as the cops may assume a person is fleeing.  With the SS office down the street  i know parking is at a premium over there   Thar was in the motorist mind a safe place to pull over.  It's also possible that he pulled over thinking the cop was going around him and was surprised to find he was the culprit.  The latter happened to me downtown in heavy traffic. I pulled over by an alley thinking the cop was going around me and was shocked that he pulled over behind me. That alley was probably the only place u could have pulled over as there was no legal parking spaces left.  Even rge bus stop smwas occupied.  With cars

Which I honestly don't care that people drive in the bus lanes hell it's not like it speed up service for us no way it's the parking in bus stops at certain stops now I give FedEx  & ups a pass cause alot of their stops be right behind the bus stop & them stops don't be having seniors be having people that can walk but at certain stops it passes me off where I know those seniors be as for driving in the bus lanes idc it's just a dam lane

I was referring to this topic, and what you said is consistent with that. The controversy was that some CTA drivers thought they were exempt from stopping at red lights, the city was billing CTA, instead of the drivers (since the license plate didn't say who was driving), and the news media, which was taking video of the runners, said the drivers were getting off the hook. In response, CTA said that it was instituting disciplinary proceedings and making the drivers pay.

I was suggesting that the same could be done with the police, except the police dept. is part of the city, while CTA is an independent municipal corporation, and not a city agency.

If one wants to go into legalities, the City Code says:

   (b)   It shall be unlawful to stand or park a vehicle, other than the type of vehicle for which the stop or stand is reserved, in violation of signs posted, in any stop or stand described in subsection (a) that has been officially designated by appropriate signs or markings; provided, however, that this provision shall not apply to a vehicle engaged in the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers when such standing does not interfere with any bus, horse-drawn carriage or taxicab waiting to enter or about to enter such zone.

On the other hand, except in emergencies, buses may only stop at bus stops.

Yea but the cams take a pic of the back you can seen the bus number plate so it can be tracked down as to who was driving it at that exact moment the pic was taken

I have to amend this to reflect:

  (d)   The driver of a bus may stop such vehicle at any intersection of any street on which it has authority to operate between the hours of Midnight and 5:00 a.m. for the purpose of loading or unloading passengers.

In any event, the provision explains why CTA has always been compulsive about bus stop signs.
