And the next garage to get New Flyers is...

#1988 was on the #14 yesterday along with #4071 on the #147. We are starting to get real close to #2000. Maybe in a week or two it'll be here.

#4073 along with #4075 were on the #147 yesterday. So we are half way now to 150. These artics seem to be coming in rapidly. There coming at a pace of almost 1 a day. They look like they'll all be here by May or June.

#1990 was on the #123 yesterday. #4079 was on the #136 yesterday too.

Just spotted NF #1996 ten minutes ago on the Kennedy Exp. Inb. at Belmont. Well I guess were getting close to the end of this lengthy delivery process, its been fun. Sure will be long time before we see a huge delivery like this again unless CTA commits itself to that huge artic order.

Trainman is going to love this... more bus swapping this weekend! After all the dust settles here at Chicago we lost 1380-1429 to North Park, in return we now have 1441-1479 (odds) from them and 1476,1478, 1856-1910 (evens) from 103rd!

Once 2029 comes onto CTA property, it's time to start trading the dark blues(Boardwalk and Park Place) for the Reds(Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky aves.). Let the Monopoly trading begin!!!

Eddie, do you have NF #1473 there at Chicago?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if this weekend's trade is only the first in a series of swaps. When all is said and done, I'd bet that the CTA fleet will be reorganized into consecutive numerical series once again (with the possible exception of the 6000s). Kind of figured that it would eventually happen, but I assumed that the deliveries would have been completed first.

Educated guess: The next swap will bring 1855-1905 (odds) from NP to Chicago Avenue in exchange for 1351(?)-1379. 1907 and 1909 might migrate from 77th in exchange for the return of a couple of low 1300s.

Beyond that, I can envision further swaps among NP, 103rd, 77th, and maybe even Kedzie until the alternating odd-even distribution is eliminated. Concerning the 6000s and the remaining NABIs, who knows? Such is life!

This is what I think will happen, base on how the TMC's were spread at NP during the last couple of years....

North Park had

All operable 4400's

A mix of early and late numbered 4500's(probably close to 70-80% of this number series)

A Handful of 4600's(probably around 10-15% of this number series)

Some 4700's were seen occassionally(less than 10% of this number series)

Maybe one or two 4800's(about 1-2% of this number series)

and the 5800's(all operable ones)

After all the dust settles(as T8H5307A stated earlier),

North Park should have(WARNING: Just Speculation)

Some late 1300's(perhaps a little more earlier than 1380)- Late 1300's= the 4600's, 4700's and 4800's NP had

Close to all 1500's(about 80-90% of this number series)- 1500's= the 4400's NP had

A mix of 1600's(mostly early numbers, perhaps one or two later numbers, or vice versa)- 1600's= the 4500's NP had

This should total our TMC equivalent from before

and 2000-2029(to total the NF 5800's equivalent NP had prior to start of retirement)

If not, talk to Blago about "buying" some copyrighted photographic proof.... $500k gets you a B&W photo, $1m gets you a color photo, $1.5m gets you the copyright w/B&W photo, and $2m gets you the copyright w/color photo.

Gotta love that Blago, huh? He really knows how to pile it on (*sniff, sniff*).

  • Why any current bus allocation should be based on what had 4400s is no longer relevant, since they are all gone. On the other hand, one could argue that the allocation of 9000s (1976 vintage) is still ruling the roost.
  • Any speculation would have to take in account the 4000s (2009 vintage), the stimulus bill, etc, which brings me to my last point:
  • I'm having more fun with the people who keep violating the "unsourced statement" rule in Wikipedia. Some unregistered IPs can't get over it.

I could see if this was a swap to get a numerical sequence going, but the fact that the evens from 103rd are highly numbered makes this a senseless swap, not even a swap. What did 103rd get, if anything?

It's so nice to know I have such an meaningful reputation !!!!

However, keep laughing at me guys....they are crying poor again. Hmmm, wonder why ???

Oh. I'm not laughing at you. Heck I work for them and cannot figure out the reasoning behind a whole bunch of other day to day issues around here either!

I realize the first part. As for the second part....here is a little bit of wisdom I learned

back in my days at the C&NW. I relates to anything transportation related (at least

railroad and bus):

If it makes any sense, it won't happen

and

Someone will do it their way (right or wrong) just to show you they

"know" what they are doing !!!!
