The ones at 77th are seem to be at highest risk of retirement in my opinion.

This is their "official" homes. Suspect they are first to go out on day loan.

Some of those have never been in service. I know the kedzie ones are all facing the corner of the lot like some school kid you told to go stand in the corner. Lol!! The fat lady is getting ready to sing on these 6400s.

I was reading the press release for the 8350s and they state the first 100 will replace the 6400s. If they only need 5 -10 6400 buses for service, if that, then I wonder if they exercise the up to 600 in options will there be 400 1000s remaining or 300? One thing with new equipment we always forget is the spare ratio should go down.

In my opinion it’ll make sense if they just replace only 500 of the #1000s instead of replacing up to 600 buses. Since there is around 60+ #6400s waiting around to be replaced by the first 100 #8350s are they going to retire the first group of the oldest #1000s from the little extra buses that is left after they get through replacing the #6400s? I know regardless of the pandemic keeping most of the buses from being retired and Nova attempts to deliver buses at a slow pace. I know for a fact that we are expected to be at around 400 or 300 of the #1000s by 2024. I wonder which extra buses after the #8350s will replace the first 100 of the last 400 of the #1000s if we are supposed be down to 300 soon.

They could retire the 6400s now what is 5-10 buses? The 100 8350s are being built to variable degrees and will probably be ready for the most part when delivery happens. In Plattsburg they probably have an overflow lot with at least 40 buses. This way they can deliver and build at the same time

Yeah I’m also pretty sure there is a lot of Novas waiting at the factory in Plattsburgh. I have a feeling delivery will begin either in January, February, March or April of 2022 or sooner whenever they’ve completely built the first 100 #8350s. Building and delivering at the same time is better and could probably help ease slow deliveries I agree with you tbh.

Looking at bus tracker there are still 100-150 fewer buses out at rush hours than pre-pandemic. In fact the last month or so the number of buses out has gone down rather than up. If they do get back to former service levels all those 6400 Nova stored at various garages would be needed for service and they would still be short of buses. There were 76 6400 still in service pre-pandemic.

I think those are gonna bite the dust when the 8350s come in cause those 100 buses you’re referring to aren’t going to comeback until Lasalle and wacker picks up (50 of those buses sitting are all 134, 135, 136, 125 and 156 trips) and whatever other commuter targeted runs are worth reinstating.
