The ordinance says "revenue-generating contract." On the rest, probably. Since the scrap is sold by weight, it depends if some parts are worth more as salvage or scrap. Clearly, most of the weight is in the engine, and after CTA decommissions it, there's nothing left salvagable. IIRC, CTA only leases the tires. No I understood that cta wants 275k but I'm just saying the things I know the junkyard will want & for starters they going after the cats on the buses

YoungBusLover
I've seen this wrecker coming in and out of 77th the past week or so and I decided to see where they're towing these #6400s to and it may just be one of several locations but #6820 ended up in a Lynwood scrapyard near the state line.

I thought so, I could have sworn most of the scrap was going to Blue Island initially but not East Chicago. I guess distance doesn't matter as long as the bus gets there. More than likely it’ll be the 6400s that was retired not too long ago because there are lines of them blocking the areas where the 800s and the 6400s that retired years ago. The contract says 101 buses that means that’ll leave a few 6400s still around.

Rhys Pate
These pictures were taken at Forest Glen Garage on Thursday (November 23rd, 2023; Thanksgiving). 6770 is still there. Also, WB-2 is there. What does Forest Glen Garage do with 6770? I took a picture that includes 6770 at Forest Glen Garage last December (which was a few months after the retirement of the 6400-Series; August 16th, 2022 was the final day of operation for the 6400-Series). You know CTA is slow with selling buses they use them for parts first get as much as they can off of them then scrap them years later he'll it's still 60's 5300's & 4901 still on the lot 14-16 years after retirement
