dann
103rd should get everything up to 1060 from C, as well as some artics from K and/or NP. I forgot, I saw 74th's 1585 on 65 Grand today.
Sam92
Any ideas on what's gonna happen with 103rd's aritc assignments for BRT service next year? They're supposed to have 53 artics or maybe higher around that time which means a definite increase. Maybe the 4150-4207 trade would happen then. sw4400
What would 103 Get FG and NP have NOVA LFS' in their garages(10 at NP I think and a plentiful amount at FG). An equitable block series of NOVAs could be sent to 103rd for compensation and 4 from NP could go to 103rd.

As usual, when dealing with any transfer to or from FG, one has to consider that those going there have to have the improvements for outdoor storage, in the most recent case, capacitors. Also, 103 again raises the issue that since it now doesn't have any Novas, that would require additional inventories of parts at 103. So, one's fantasies about fleet numbers mean nothing. That was the TMC and Flxible(5300-Series) era. The NOVA LFS and New Flyer D40LF are ok for indoor/outdoor storage.
Sam92
I still think that 4150 - 4207 would get traded to 103rd around the time of BRT service on Jeffery

Because they are longitudinal, as far as the seating, they have more capacity than a standard artic. Although a transfer is not impossible it's not likely. Then 103's probably gonna gain back everything lost to North Park in the last few trades. That would explain why they never got the '03' stickers removed

As crazy as it sounds, if alot of buses get the axe they may even suggest closing another garage. Most likely one of the old ones.

Is it pretty much set in stone that there are going to be service cuts on top of the fare hikes? And if so do you know how much of a reduction it's going to be? And if so do you know how much of a reduction it's going to be? Well according to CBS news, they asked Claypool about the budget and he said "it's going to be a bad one". Probably they would do both, because they can raise fares now since the moratorium on fares hikes has expired. Also if the budget has a deep gap, just cutting service or raising fares would be devastating like that big cut they had last time. Also they probably couldn't justify too much of a fare raise. RJL6000
I am guessing that all remaining owl service might be eliminated, along with some weekend service on most or all bus routes and maybe all weekend service on selected bus routes. And most if not all bus routes that do not currently operate daily might be eliminated, as well. And many of the remaining routes might be reduced from daily operations to weekday rush-period-only operations. On top of all that, fares might be increased all the way to $7.50 or be switched to a distance-based structure in which longer-distance riders would pay progressively higher fares. Finally, transfers might be eliminated completely, making all cash, Transit Card and Chicago Card users pay the full fare (or have the entire full fare deducted from the stored value) on each and every ride. They should just go ahead and shut down whats left of the CTA system! Every year more service cuts, fare hikes every couple of years and now Claypool, like many others before him, who have no transit background!, are coming out with another "Doomsday" which I believe is b.s.! IMO, They, the last three CTA heads! were or are just incompetent, they dont have any answers I believe because of their lack of knowledge of the system! Its upsetting to hear the same song being played almost every year. Chicago's transit system is quickly becoming a third class operation, a system which is becoming less and less viable! I dont see other cities going through what we have to keep going through. I personally blame the politics in this city! Its sad and sorry to see what was once an excellent transit system being run into the ground by incompetents who have no business running it in the first place! Busjack
I don't know if it pays to mention, but there is another thread for the budget. This one is, for say, bus 514 being permanently assigned to route 147. I'm not saying that it has, but....this should be restricted to that sort of stuff. Actually, I saw a report where the CTA was going to buy 30' Optima Buses for the Wrigley Field Express, Solider Field Express, and United Center Express routes. Talk about cramming there!!!

However, they probably will have a bus swap with Pace for paratransit vans for those purposes.

Sam92
Not exactly a move, but 4058 is back in service. Saw it downtown changing from a 192 to a 14. Don't know if any special changes were made to the front when it was repaired though.

Don't know if any special changes were made to the front when it was repaired though. Probably not. Being a bus with an abundance of available parts, 4058 was probably towed to Bus & Truck to be rebuilt with replacement parts either the CTA has or ordered from New Flyer in MN. 6131 was pretty badly damaged after the accident on Peterson a few years ago(I thought that bus was scrapped after that), but they rebuilt it with some 5300-Series parts. ArcherRider
Today I saw NF #4105 on #6 today. Did NP return that bus or loan it 103rd?
Sam92
Today I saw NF #4105 on #6 today. Did NP return that bus or loan it 103rd? I saw it in person. It still had a 'P' sticker on the front. I also saw #4103 right in front of it but it didn't have any sticker at all. Maybe CTA finally figured how unbalanced things were. Also saw #4058 on the #3 with a "16xx" run number. Not exactly sure what was up with that. NOVA #6492 was loaned this morning; rode it to work this morning on the 95E. Sam92
#1743 is operating on the #30 Look's like 103rd is short again. That's the second loan I've seen today along with 6492 on the 95E. Oddly, 77th also borrowed from 103rd earlier
Sam92
Now 4086 is on the #3. Don't know if it's using a 103rd run number like 4058 was yesterday.
BusHunter
Saw #1978 Saturday on the #54. (former NP bus) Also #1976 is on the #20 tonight according to Bustracker.
