More Bus Moves

I thought NF #4104 was a 103rd Garage bus. I just saw it this morning on #134 Stocton/La Salle Express.

#134 was one of the routes shared since last February. At that time it was shared between K, P, 103rd and 77th although may have changed since.

K M-F am RH 18 jrny; pm RH 5 jrny

P M-F am RH 12 jrny; pm RH 4 jrny

103rd M-F am RH 11 jrny; pm RH 3 jrny

77th M-F pm RH 2 jrny

Have there been any more changes in the New Flyer rosters recently? I caught a SB Lincoln bus this evening, but it was #1168! Run # was P154...

Bus 1168 last belonged to Kedzie.

NP also has two 40-foot NFs whose numbers end in "-68": 1768 and 1968.

And I discovered another thing unusual on the #49 (Western):

Although both 74th and NP operate that route at this hour, fewer Novas are at present on the route (and the few Novas still on the route at this hour are from 74th). The few NP runs on the #49 at this hour are all New Flyers.

I can guarantee you this was 1168, I picked it's number up on the tracker, I visually saw the number on the front and interior of the bus. I rode it home(it had the old style boxy seats in it). There was a "K" sticker on the right upper windshield

It's still too soon to tell whether it was just a loaner or the beginning of another group of bus transfers. Other 1160s are still on the Kedzie-operated routes for the time being. Also, I have not seen the NP Novas (6692-6707) this evening, even on the #49 Western. Instead, the few NP-operated runs on the #49 are all New Flyers (as I mentioned in my previous post above). If the 1100s and the remainder of Kedzie's 1200s are indeed transferred (or being transferred) to NP, then the remaining NP Novas would go to 74th and FG while Kedzie would get back its 1720s and pick up some of the 1730s and 1740s.

Quite possible that this was nothing more than a loan as the rest of Kedzie's 1100's and its 1200's for that matter are still based at Kedzie. What I found interesting is that at least 3 or 4 buses that were numbered in the 6520's, 6540's and 6560's out of Chicago's allotment of Novas operated in succession on #136 in yesterday morning's rush according to Bustracker.

I'm reasonably sure that 6471-6474 are actually assigned to North Park rather than 74th, and have been for quite some time. Like other North Park Novas, they're used primarily on Western. But they also fill rush-hour runs on Broadway, Clark, and a few rush-hour-only lakefront routes.

The first time I noticed one of those 6470s on a North Park route other than Western, I assumed that it was a loaner. But those four Novas have been appearing consistently on those other routes along with the rest of NP's Novas.

Oh, so that explains how NP still has 20 Novas based there. For the summer pick, NP traded 6688-6691 to 74th in exchange for 6471-6474. Then, 74th got lower 6480s from 77th to partially compensate for the loss of some of its NFs to C and K.

True for the most part, except that I doubt that their was a one-for-one exchange of Novas between NP and 74th. I believe that 6471-6474 have been operating out of NP since last spring, if not earlier.

#6664 is sighted on the #103 and #6682 is sighted on the #34

Both of those were loaners from 74th, since two days after those sightings both are on the #49 this morning.

However, bus #6850 (from 77th) is sighted on the #34 this morning. Several other #6800s are also sighted on the #29 although it is unclear whether those are actually 103rd runs or 77th runs (since that route is shared between 103rd and 77th).

This pattern has been happening with the 103rd-based routes for quite some time because that garage does not currently have enough operable buses to run its routes.

Lately, at least in the afternoon rush period, #54B and #94 have been run entirely out of Chicago Garage. I have not seen any 74th buses on either of those two routes lately.

In the case of the #94, I spoke too soon. This midday, two 74th buses (both NFs) are spotted on that route.

From what I've been seeing with the 94 of late, a lot of the weekday runs are Chicago based runs and a lot of the weekend runs are 74th based. Another thing I've been noticing is Kedzie running 40 footers on the 12 and 82 again these past few weekends instead of running these with artics on weekends as they've done since the February cuts went into effect.
