How soon will the 7900s be rehabbed? How many will be out of service for rehabs at a time? Will garages receive 8350s and/or later 1000s (probably not earlier 1000s though, as those will be retired and replaced by 8350s)  to temporarily replace 7900s being rehabbed?

Dam they just now wanna do a rehab when the oldest ones are almost 9 years old 3 years for of being eligible for retirement normally they would do them after 6 years in lol

This is really odd but units 8003 and 8005 both have the same transmission as the 8350's now, but have the same engine from 2015. Is there a reason why the transmissions have changed on both of those buses?

I was watching a video from 2020 of 8005, it also had the redone transmission back then, I thought this was new but Ig not. 8002 also has it so it looks like the 8000 range at 74th has it but maybe a few units don't have it

Yea the 7900's are going on 9 years old now it's crazy how it took 9 years to get to this point

The date at the top of this topic shows that's correct. Is there any word on rehabbing them, especially since the oldest are at 77th, which always has beaten the ? out of its buses?

Not sure when it’ll happen but the oldest ones from 2014 most definitely need it the most.

Yea they need to start the rehab on them & by the time they get down to the 82's& early 8300's they wil be needed a rehab since 8300-24 rolled in in 2016 hell those are even good for a rehab since they are 6 years old cause I remember 8305 was wrapped in the cubs logo when they won the chip

The 7900s were in 2014, The 8000s/8100s were in 2015, The 8200s/8300s were in early 2016.

That was 9 years ago.

8305 from FG has a Cubs Wrapped for 6 Years ago while with 1763 has it.

Yea I know all of em can go for a rehab now but since nothing been said about it I wonder are they going to do them like they did the 6400's just run them without a rehab

7999 over heating whike in the 4 it's smoking from the top & the back & mostly going to be towed in front of the law breakers station at 71st

The 7900s barely have half decent air conditioning when the bus is empty.  Forget about air when the bus is full.  If it's steaming, either there's a busted hose somewhere or someone didn't check or top off fluids.

On the topic of what 7900s (as opposed to current deliveries) K received, from @maths22 's tracker, it looks like yesterday something like 50 buses, of which 45 (8260-8324 range, making assumptions about the few not on the tracker) were from FG. It also looks like FG has 8202-8259 less 15 plastic seat buses still at 74, plus 8343-8349, indicating 49 7900s. My math may be slightly off, but it looks like what went to K offset the 8350s FG got.

FG only has 8202-8212, 8220, 8231-8259 from the 7900’s

The 8200s were manufactured in 2016 so they're technically going on 7 years old right now but nonetheless they shouldn't have that bad of an issue in regards to the A/C. The #7900s were next in line after the #4300s to get an overhaul so maybe in the next year or so once the pending deliveries of the #8350s are complete.

I'm still puzzled by how 77th is some how getting #8350s before Kedzie. No matter how small the amount is those newer buses outside of #8405 should of been given to Kedzie. Sadly the #7900s are only good for heating because it has been well documented over the years with how bad the A/C is on them during the summer months.

The question (since CTA hasn't done the 4300s yet), is whether CTA has the staff to do both and get the buses sitting in the yard repaired. It could contract it out, but hasn't posted a solicitation yet.
