Just said 8487 being delivered to SS about a hour ago it was on the bed of a trailer that was backing in where all the other new buses was at

So they’re delivering them on the bed now? Usually they’ll drive their way en route here themselves.

So when did buses start getting delivered on flatbeds?

Could it be possible Nova is short on hiking staff and has to use trucking to help get its buses delivered?  Maybe uts cheaper for the truck to do it rather than pay drivers, driver hotels, and driver airfare from Chicago to New York   Nova would possibly be less liable for an accident and damages to its brand new bus if their own drivers aren't operating the vehicle

I notice that the Cta and Metra have the same series number 8400. Can anyone tell me why Nova bus  using the Metra number 8400.

Numbers aren't necessarily exclusive to any one agency.   St one time. CtA and Pace had 6000 series budes at the same time.  CTA had 6000 Flxs 6000 - 6329 from 1005 - 2007 and the Nova 6400 series 6400 - 6883 from 2001 until Last year.  Pace had the Orion VI 6000 series 6000 - 6161 from 2001 - 2015? ( 6155 - 6161 were delivered in 2003).  Pace had the 6162 - 6261 BABI buses delivered in 2093 along with the 35' versions numbered 6600 - 6684.  In 2005 Pace had 6261 - 6322 delivered.   In 2013 Pace started receiving Eldorado Axxess buses starting with 6323.

To answer your question,  the CTA Novas you are speaking of technically are 8350 series buses.  But not only are they two separate agencies,  they are two different modes of transportation as CTA buses and Metra trains

Pace has gone to a different numbering system.  Numbers are used to identify vehicles.   Nothing more.

6000 - 6329 was in service from 1995 and was retired in Feb 2010 when CTA had the budget cuts and closed Archer Garage.
