6846 is still active. We also got 6837, 6843, 6849, 6858, 6861, 6865, 6867, 6869, 6870, and 6877 if I remember correctly.

The 84 also seems to get one or two during rush hour, though it's been maybe three weeks since I last saw one on that route.

Seems like they are stashing them all over the place. Based on other reports here, I drove by FG, and from Armstrong Ave., I saw a bunch of old Novas in the lot east of the Pyramid building, also 7900.

yea 7900 showed up last night i was at FG yesterday it wasn’t there 1861 and 1767 are also there

Back in mid to late 2019 CTA decided to refurbish several #6400s to be used solely for Training purposes. At the time waiting on availability of buses during the am rush periods prompted the move for recently retired #6400s to be used. Once the pandemic started that plan was scrapped. To the best of my knowledge there was at least ten refurbished but only two saw the light of day. #6470 and #6488.I got the chance to operate #6470 in late 2019 and although slow it was still good exercise as far as getting experience.

At this point #6558, #6585 and #6671 are in the boneyard behind a few other retired #6400’s behind Forman Mills. This makes me wonder if they’ll still see the light of day again or will eventually get hauled away for scrap along with the other retired #6400’s. #6470 has suffered a few issues in November 2019 and is still in the boneyard in the same spot for a while now. The saddest clue is that they are using the #1000’s as training instead of most the #6400’s they have now. #6579 is also an instruction bus I believe but I have no clue where it is.

now that 8350’s are starting to be delivered to garages the #6400’s won’t run as much anymore especially since school year is over until late august early september don’t be suprised if 8350’s run by end of august

Idk why they made the 6400's as training buses when one they didn't use them 2 only fg was running the 6400's when you a new driver you only gone apart at a few garages

6488 was cool but they been stopped using it it just sits in the back of the training lot now they use the NF they have

Like 6697 K had got it & it sat untouched in the back of the garage for the longest just like a month or 2 ago it got kicked out into the lot with the rest of the 6400's

That isn't the reason, as CTA ran a full schedule during COVID. The real reason is that about 80 buses should have been replaced by now (between 600s and 8350s) and, unless the 6400s are generic training buses (that's why I asked about CDL training), there is no reason to provide specific training on a series that should be out of revenue service.
