8350-series Nova LFS - Updates

This is my question now I’m currently at 74th but my home garage is 103rd and I was still there when 8325-42 came and I know how they ride in comparison to the 7900-8324 novas. My question is do the 8350’s and up drive the same as the 8325’s and up cause the breaking was smoother on those series of novas. I’ll assume the 8350’s and up drive the same.

They feel the same ridewise. If I'm not mistaken 103rd got 8325s because they handled closer to 1000s but I don't drive lol.

7900s were moved to 103rd for safety long before 8325s got here. They were mainly for the N5, N34 runs. When 8325s started coming there was a preference for 8325s due to them being a bit more similar to 1000s hence some 8325s going to forest Glen just to get sent south a few days later. It's somewhere up here in the forum maybe even in this topic I'll look for it ?

To answer your question the #8325s run similar to the #8350s as far as braking is concerned. Acceleration is just about the same as well. My only complaint is the rear doors for the #8350s have an updated interlock system that will alert passengers to step away from the rear doors. They also will only open if you touch the yellow strip at the right angle otherwise the door will open up on its own with a doors opening and doors closing announcement. Takes a little too long for my pace.

I remember these buses.  They were the ones used on the "Charters " that used to run on Loomis every afternoon.   For years they ran empty into the mid 70s , but ran they did.  By then, that was the only place I saw them  run.

Those were Moseley School runs. Four buses. From 57th/State, one via 59-Loomis-69 to State, one via State-69-Lafayette to 79, one via State-69-Lafayette to 95, one via State-Cermak to Indiana, then all to downtown to 6X. Moseley School closed, but nobody told Mart for at least a year (until I ratted them out to Norm Oswald at Schedule Dept), they were cancelled a couple of days later, I am sure drivers were not happy that an 9.0 run suddenly became 8.0!

Ancient History -

8500-8649 originally assigned 30 each to Limits, Keeler, Lawndale, 52nd, Beverly (along with 30 each of 100-249). Circa 1964 most 8500s to Keeler, last few 8500s and all 8600s to 52nd. Stayed there to the end, except Keeler ones to North Ave when garage closed 1973. Trivia - 8500s had different transmission than 8600s, 8600s were much softer shifting.
