BusExpert32
Yeah, I'm thinking more what's 103rd going to lose now there in surplus. FG's also in surplus gaining 29 #1000's and only losing 10 #6000's and so far 8 #6400's and Archer has gained 13 #6400's even though they lost the #173 and #174. I wonder why Archer seems to be gaining buses. I think New Flyer is on the right track, since Archer is the likely candidate for running the 31st Street route in the future, along with other garages picking up other new routes. Busjack
Please refresh my memory and tell me when the new "stimulus" routes start. Thanks much. Gene King Basically, the only one that started was 67 to Ford City. A lot of others were announced as having been recommended for grants, but nothing has happened. This forum noted the proposed routes in October, 2008. BTW, they weren't "stimulus," but, in the CTA case, JARC, or in other cases, ICE. New Flyer
They should have all started this month but remember CTA was still short of buses last month and wouldn't have had the equipment in time for the pick, once the last of the flyers come in they should be able to determine when they can start those routes.

We're only talking 2 or 3 buses if that many. So if that's really the case, what was stopping it from happening last week? I'm more inclined to believe grant money wasn't finalized as Busjack suggests. They pretty much knew last month that equipment levels would be back up. wordguy
The Dance of the Buses has commenced once again! After eyeballing 1242 on Irving Park a short time ago, I gave BusTracker a quick scan. It looks as if a three-way switch is in progress involving Forest Glen, 77th, and Chicago Ave. : 1234-1243 77th to Forest Glen 1308-1317 Chicago Ave. to 77th Ten unknown 6000s Forest Glen to Chicago Ave. (educated guess). As I write, 1308-1310 are still operating from Chicago Ave., so they'll probably be migrating soon. Regarding the 6000s, I guess we'll know more one way or another come Monday unless one of the Chicago Ave. crew on this board spots something sooner.
