artthouwill Posted May 9, 2014 Report Share Posted May 9, 2014 I thought this was a CTA incident because it was uploaded to People Of The CTA, but it actually occurred in Brooklyn, NY on May 5th... all I can say is wow.... here we are in 2014, and there are ignorant people like this antagonist who want to throw the 1950's back into everyone's faces. Absolutely unbelievable behavior from this senior citizen, and I use that term loosely because of his attitude. I would lose all respect for this guy after this... jajuan Posted May 9, 2014 Report Share Posted May 9, 2014 Yeah but I don't get running novas 24/7. You know Chicago garage seems to doing pretty good at that keeping the novas in on the weekends. I would just split up the novas and run those on the trippers. I doubt some psycho is riding in the rush and if they were the passengers would most likely intervene. It's these night/evening runs that I'd be concerned about because you are just increasing the chance for something bad to happen. No way should routes like the #77 be running night car Novas. I remember back in the day when Fg got what was left of the first part of the #5300's flxible order. (#5477-#5544) With just those 70 buses what they did was run those exclusively on the #81, #77 and #56 which I believe ran all night back then. Doing that could keep alot of novas off the street at night when they don't need to be out there. When they had 128 nova buses back in 2002, they could keep all the older buses off the street on the weekends. Just something like that will help to keep your operators safe. I know there's alot of crazy drunks on the #152 after these ball games and St. Patrick's day is really bad. They could eliminate alot of chance just removing the older buses in the non rush. You get no argument from me about the current Novas operating 24 hours. That was a huge reason why I hated FG lost its NFs and 74th took a net loss of 30 of theirs. 74th still does good with keeping its Novas in at night but it still has to run more of them later than before the swap with 77th. Speaking of 74th Novas, I have not seen any out on the 9 Ashland today while on my commutes to and from work. EDIT: I did see 6649 this afternoon southbound at Ashland and Roscoe as the northbound bus I was on passed that intersection. But there were still a lot fewer Novas out on the 9 today. So it looks as if the 4370s migrated north (likely 4370-4376, assuming a 7-for-7 swap). In the meantime, 4363 is assigned to 79th Street. Also: 4118 is operating on the 22 today. 4117-4119 had been MIA from Chicago Ave. since the reassignment of the 4120s. Maybe that entire group of three is still at NP. I was happy that artics with decent seat layouts are operating out of NP. And Bustracker is showing 4338 running NB at Dearborn & Randolph as I type this. Since I go past the Clark/Arthur terminal constantly, I see what's there & I don't even need a bus number to know a 4300 as the front windshields are curved differently from the 4000s. It may be the first time you've personally seen it but 4300s have been operating on both 22 and 151 just about every week starting with the diesel 4330s moved from Kedzie to NP back in March on through yesterday after the latest set of 4300s moved from both Chicago and 77th up to NP. When North Park only had those first few 4300s from Kedzie and 77th, yeah the sightings were somewhat more rare. But now that close to half the artics at North Park are now 4300s, it's now a quite a regular sight and pretty much has been for a few weeks now. I live just a few minutes from the Clark/Arthur terminal and have personally seen them quite regularly on both routes for a least a month. Yesterday was the first day I remember not seeing any 4300s on 79th in a good while. I tried to spot a 7900 at South Shops to no avail. It did look strange, but 4377 had probably been sent to the South Shops for some reason or other.
