BusHunter
Maybe 77th gave away upper 1300's. Usually when loans happen they occur with whatever is available and they are sent out . This seems to be more concentrated on a certain section of fleet. I could be very wrong though. No AJM522, you appear to be right #1300's went to 74th as a transfer. So if this keeps up there shouldn't be many #6400 Novas except on the north side, so does this nix 74th chances of getting #7900's?

So if this keeps up there shouldn't be many #6400 Novas except on the north side, so does this nix 74th chances of getting #7900's? In addition, #1154 was operating on Archer earlier this evening. So it's probably safe to assume that 1152-53 migrated to 74th as well. I think it's too early to make any assumptions about assignments of the rest of the 7900s. (Just incidentally, I had never expected 77th to get the first group of them). But historically, during the course of a fleet turnover, it hasn't been unusual for some units to be shuffled two or three times before the dust settled. Still, it'll be interesting to see which of the old Novas get scuttled --- and if others end up migrating to you-know-where. Eventually, as others have mentioned, FG will get NFs once again --- unless they receive a totally new fleet of the 7900s. But that would be insane! sw4400
I can say I rode the pilot Nova Bus twice now.... no not 7900, but 6400 on the #9 this past week. Maybe someday I'll get a first ride on a 7900-Series Nova, until then I'll just view the pics.
sw4400
Spotted #1588 on #82. Is this a f'ing joke??? Well 74th did get a few New Flyers, garmon(1335-1340), so maybe they're trying to re-block some buses at the garages. At last update, Kedzie had 1590-1596, so maybe they're eventually getting the 1580's and maybe even 1570's. Just speculation on what was spotted... Another possibility is that 1588 is just a loaner. All New Flyer garage buses are short of some equipment right now as buses are taken to/sitting at South Shops for rehabs.

As someone already beat me to saying, too early to say 74th's chances of getting any 7900s has changed. Spotted #1588 on #82. Is this a f'ing joke??? Keep calm my friend. 74th did make a gain of NFs from 77th even though it's odd that 77th would send a few 1300s along with returning a few 1150s it snatched from 74th back in February. And I kind of doubt Kedzie is picking up 1570s and 1580s in some move to get NFs back into some numerical sequence since 1335-40 going to 74th works against that theory. If a re-block were happening it would have made sense to give 1335-40 to NP since NP has a larger chunk of the 1300s. if 1588 is a reassignment it just happens to fit with Kedzie having the lower end of 1590s and nothing more at this point.

After carefully reviewing the map to see if any other 74th's 1500s @ Kedzie, I'll declare that #1588 is a loan. I have changed the not rehabbed list by adding #1335-40 to 74th. Jajaun, it really does make sense to have them at North Park. Expect more buses to leave 77th when more 7900 Novas arrives there. I'm about to head to South Shop now to see what's going on with everything.

Tracking things on BusTracker during a Sunday to make any declarations is tricky because of the much reduced service levels compared to a weekday. With more buses parked on weekends, it's hard to say what's what for sure what the deal is yet when speaking of small handfuls of buses. There are so many Novas parked outside the shop, it's ridiculous. Mostly FGs.
andrethebusman
I knew NP had school trips on Addison, but I didn't know they had service for the Cubs game. This season NP has been running Cubs extras on both Addison and Irving Park, usually 6 152's and 2 80's.

Likes: 1. bus is quieter (inside and out) than the 6400s 2. No rear facing seats! 3. Interior seemed brighter Dislikes: 1. Only 36 seats 2. Legroom is tight in certain spots (I'm not tall height 5ft 7.5in, inseam 30in ) I think I would have preferred a Gillig LF with the BRT front 3. Seats could be more comfortable (they seem to push out my lower back)
jajuan
I saw 1789 & 1796 on the 152. Only for Cubs games mate! Not just for Cubs games, but also on some AM and PM rush trips some of which are school trip related on the PM rush front. I doubt there were Cubs games at 7:15 in the morning on the few weekdays I saw NP artics and 1000s on 152 this month while on the #9. I knew NP had school trips on Addison, but I didn't know they had service for the Cubs game. This season NP has been running Cubs extras on both Addison and Irving Park, usually 6 152's and 2 80's. Yeah on the Cubs game front I'm sure we've been seeing NP buses more on 152 as well as on the 80 now because of the 154 getting axed now that the Ricketts family have a new parking arrangement that moved remote parking from the lots near DeVry to somewhere closer where 152 and 80 connect with the Blue Line. Mr.cta85
Today I saw 1111 as a 103 and again once I pulled in not too long ago. Most likely a loaner from 74th but still note worthy lol.

I'm thinking of 77th borrowing a number of the 1740s from 74th soon after those buses first went into revenue service. Yea that's true but I'll keep an eye out cause 1110 didn't have a 6 sticker in the window so I'll look for that bus again once I get to work today. sw4400
Good reason as to why artics should not be ran during snowy days. This was from Feb 17, 2014. I don't think we got a lot of snow(looks like maybe 3-4" in the video), but it was enough to give this DE60LF trouble and require a push from a wrecker. Video That reminds me of a story on TV news about 9 years ago about one NABI being pushed by another on Michigan Ave. downtown, which didn't make much sense. But if CTA isn't going to run artics during a snow storm, what is it supposed to do--ask Pace to lend it some 30 footers?

The video reflects nothing wrong with the bus, other than it had difficulty getting traction because CTA didn't plow the terminal.
jajuan
That's #4172 in that video. Is it back in service or not? Nothing was wrong with the bus itself. The point was to show why CTA was using a park most/all its artic policy whenever the snow was more than a minor dusting in what was a wicked winter overall last go round. So yes 4172 has been back in service since then. It was one of the artics that got traded to 77th when NP got the diesel 4300s from Chicago and 77th back in February and has since been transferred to 103rd. While snows may be minor, ice is a problem. Once the back end slides, you lose control of the bus and jacknife.
