BusHunter
So #1005 is on the #152. Still at np.
Tcmetro
Well, thanks for the history about the 53AL. It makes a lot more sense as to why it existed now. Chicago Transit and Railfan gives its operation dates as 11/7/1993 - 2/7/2010. 3L is given a start date of 3/28/1993, which puts it a month after the swapping of the north and south ends of the Red and Green and 9 months before the closure of the Green Line for reconstruction. TripleTransit1
Anyone else notice that two of #1043's seats have the same seat design as buses #1304-2029, while the rest of the seats have the normal seat design from buses #1001-1303?

All they are doing is taking Kedzie's problem and making it Chicago's and they have 80 #6400's to play with, so in a way that's worse. They probably should have sent those #1600's to 74th as they have a pretty good fleet now, #6800's and the lowest unrehabbed bus count, 23. 74th rehabs fast too like Chicago so together they probably could have worked to get the 117 down to manageable levels. Besides 74th should have alot of extra buses with the #8000's coming. It's not ridiculous there to send out 10-15 rehabs at a time now. BusHunter
This morning I see 1438 and 1441 is on #124 and and #1657 is on #20. So what did Chicago get all the buses up to #1680, in the #1600's that are not rehabbed? NP has the rest higher than #1680. #1669 is still on the #21, so I don't know if it could be rehabbed or it just hasn't moved yet. Kedzie still has #1675 and that's rehabbed so it looks like only the unrehabbed buses from Kedzie went to Chicago and the rehabbed #1400's from Chicago went to Kedzie. #1449 though is still at Chicago. Counting what's unrehabbed at Kedzie for #1600's (#1630 - #1680) that amounts to 25 buses. Take away 5 or so buses at South shops and it looks like a 20 bus swap. I think Kedzie is attempting to get as many #1600's as they can. It is a Saturday, so some might have fallen through the cracks, but if NP has the 20 #1600's that are #1680 and higher, Kedzie is either borrowing or taking them bit by bit (or bus by bus) since #1685 is on 18, #1688 is on 52, #1694 is on #10. BusHunter
Damn #1007 is released from south shops on the #53!! #1271 is also on the #21 released from south shops. That was a 103rd bus and so was #1007. #1336 has also been released from south shops to the #36. That was a 74th bus
KedziePink
The new system map indicates that Madison/Wabash will close in the spring. I don't think the CTA has mentioned when it will close before. http://www.transitchicago.com/assets/1/brochures/ctaSystemMapBrochure.pdf

CTA sure loves its infill stations How do you figure it is infill if it is replacing Randolph/Wabash and Madison/Wabash? The only thing this signals is that they need to get Madison out of the way to get construction started.

The engine cover panel to the left of the rear window was crumbled in the air like a tin can and I couldn't tell at the time that I saw it sitting @ southshops whether or not it had significant damage to the engine up until the time I heard it got released, but other than that I have no clue as to why that happened. Tcmetro
I believe that the station will be between Washington and Madison, so the station will have to get torn down in order to build the new one.

The rest, including the ones you listed, have never moved from K since new in May 2008. Actually, some of the 1600's have been scattered from K.... 1636,1639,1641,1647,1651,1653,1655,1657-1659,1661,1677 are at Chicago 1682-1684,1689,1693,1695,1697-1698 are at North Park 1608,1610,1612,1614-1615 are at 74th 1601,1603,1606,1620 are at 77th 1600,1602,1604-1605,1607,1609,1611,1613,1616-1618 are at 103rd Kedzie did have almost this entire block a few years back.... most of the 1600-1629 block and all of the 1630-1699 block, but now those numbers are scattered, whether temporarily or permanently among other garages. I wonder if one day the D40LF blocks will be consolidated together at the various garages(e.g: 1700-1799 at NP, 1800-1899 at K, 1900-1999 at C, 2000-2029 at FG, etc...) BusHunter
Now that's weird. #1640 is still at kedzie on the #82 and #1633 is on the #21. Both should be unrehabbed. #1663 is at kedzie too. No way could all these buses be rehabbed??? Just in case they are I'll stick around and check out #1669. Later on... #1633 and #1663 are not rehabbed on the #21 so looks like they only moved some of the unrehabbed #1600's.
