Shame they couldn’t fix up the TMC & one of the Flxibles. Would be nice to keep them around to use on a certain bus route for like an anniversary event for their bus fleet.

Yeah it is, #4550,#5678 and #6163 are the only operable buses left for that type of scenario. I think #4550 might be long as well and well #5678 has a dead engine so that leaves #6163.

So I've pretty much compiled the most recent list of active #6400's for the month of December and here's the results of what i've found via Maths22. #6400's in bolded text haven't run within the past two weeks. In total 58 #6400's are left in active service give or take a few that may be at south shops or in the dead lot at Forrest Glen. If anyone see's any additional #6400's not on the list feel free to add them in so I can update the list.

Current list as of 12/30/20 8:54 AM

6675 6679 6681 6684 6686 6687 6691 6700 6705 6710 6713 6714 6722 6724 6730 6733 6736 6737 6746 6747 6751 6755 6761 6763 6770 6772 6793 6794 6799 6802 6803 6805 6814 6820 6826 6834 6835 6836 6837 6838 6843 6846 6847 6849 6854 6856 6858 6859 6860 6861 6862 6865 6869 6870 6871 6875 6877 6882

But were they active in the month of December or the last several months? #6682 and #6759 are at SS but I haven't seen these following buses 6678 6706 6734 (Back in service)  6764 6771 6776 6780 6784 6787 6792 6810 6824 6867 6868 6873 active this month. So these missing 14 would bring back the old total of 72 out of 73 active on the roster instead of the current 58 I have listed. Some may of made brief appearances before heading back OOS.

True. For the the buses that I listed above that were out in December while checking on Maths were 6780 (last out 12/29 on 76), 6792 (last out 12/29 on 152), 6784 (last out 12/28 on 152), 6836 (last out 12/29 on 54A), 6861 (last out 12/27 on 152), 6805 (last out 12/24 on 78), 6776 (last out 12/17 on 86), and the rest of them have not been out for at least since 12/16 while 6834 was last out on 12/16. In November, we had 6706 6867 6771 6787 6846 6678. Sounds like 6764, 6824, and 6868 are done since they haven't been in service for a long time. 6810 was last out in the summer as well and the latest I found for 6873 was in March prior to the pandemic along with 6868 so maybe 6873 could be done too but we'll find out. 6682 was out in the summer (the latest I could find) before being sent to SS and 6759 was out earlier this month before being sent to SS.

In the case of #6759 It has been in and out of SS since July and sat for a very long until getting sent back to FG after receiving maintenance. #6682 has been at SS for at least a month or so now.

It took me about an hour to canvas the area thoroughly but here is the updated list of the boneyard. I was going to consider adding in the high floor models but seeing as there is already a list for them I didnt add them in. Notably #6029 was the first fresh moves bus and was retired in between late 2013 and early 2014. #4687 is the only TMC left back there besides the #4900s and #5454 along #5696 are the last remaining Metro Bs. The remaining #6000s range from #6031 all the way to #6227. I was kind of surprised to see #1805 back there after all these years, apparently it was on LTH for the longest and it appears that it was gutted of the engine for parts before getting placed back there. It's kind of sad to see but that's how the ball rolls sometime.

#1245 is officially retired, #1321 also appears to be next in line for retirement after being defunct for several months. #1185 is also getting close to that assumption as well.

Wow what happened to 1321? Because that bus sounded healthy  in August when my friend rode it. Also is 1711 getting retired too?

#1321 appears to have something going on mechanically with it, I'm not sure what it could be but for it to be dormant for this long with no sense of urgency to repair is a bad sign. I haven't seen #1711 at all, #1760 is back there though along with #1434 and #1556. #1711 may be on the south fence or in the heavy maintenance facilities on 78th and vincennes.

#1185 has sat defunct on the south fence for a majority of 2020 now going into 2021. I'm not sure whats going on with it but i know it was repaired. #1245 had mechanical issues and #1321 seems to be in the same boat.

South fence list as of 1/10/20

Sidenote 40 #6400s are left in the boneyard and the numbers will continue to diminish as the year goes on. #6699 had roughly 600k miles on it before getting axed for suspension issues. At least 27 Artics are in the boneyard awaiting major repairs or retirement. #1434 is on Legal hold, #1457 appears to be dead but we'll have to wait and see. #4301 and #4302 caught my attention as I was surprised to see those two sitting back there. If anyone is near FG could you check the dead lot for me and give me a rubdown of what's there?

Damn I rode 6699 on July 4 (it's last day of service ever) and it's transmission wasn't that good because it wasn't shifting gears a lot and when it did, it shifted very late.  That bus didn't sound healthy and I knew it was going to be out very soon. Next-stop sign and annunciator were both working well, but I noticed the breakdown triangles were behind the operator on the fire extinguisher, seeming like it broke down a few days or weeks before July 4 and the box where they are normally kept is empty. Is that bus officially retired and never coming back to active service or they'll try to fix it so it can be active again?

Most likely any nova that craps out is GONE gone unless it’s an EXTREMELY minor repair.
