BusHunter
7928 on I90 in Gary heading to Chicago Anyone noticing the increase in deliveries lately? That's a good sign. I wonder if we'll see #7909 today?
Mr.cta85
I saw 7917 today heading to navy pier. Are they running the new equipment full time now or just rush hour only still.

Busjack
Gary?? He said it was on I-90. Unless you have a helicopter, it is kind of hard to get from New York to Chicago via I-90 without going through Gary. He didn't say it was cruising around 9th Avenue, or that it was around 25th and Jackson looking for the Michael Jackson homestead shrine. It also doesn't appear to be like the time about 12 years ago when a Nova showed up in front of somebody's house in Detroit.

Well presuming Nova Bus was in the NY area in 2000-2002, couldn't that driver have possibly lived in Detroit and just stopped for the night before heading to Chicago? I mean New York to Chicago is quite a drive, and if I was a driver and had a choice of a stay at my house where I pay nothing except my monthly rent/mortgage along with utilities, or a Hotel/Motel charge for one night, I'd rather go home and resume in the morning. That's what they said, but the stink was leaving the bus overnight in that neighborhood. leading to further deliveries being on flatbed trucks. BusHunter
YOU'RE WELCOME!!!! I got some better photos of the front of #7908 and I got a few of #7909. I noticed today they are putting advertising racks on the outside of the buses. I'll have to look at my pictures and see if that was in my other shots.

andrethebusman
Something to note - artics are coming off #79 next weekend. Apparently delays are becoming excessive. It appears 103rd will get more artics with #26 going all-artic, North Park might get their allotment moved somewhat in PM from 135 and 136 to 22. Expect big bus shifts next weekend??

This would be a good time to try some out at 74th but they would probably need the 77th artic capable operators over there. So 103rd will split the 77th artics with np? Wow that's going to leave even less 40 footers for either garage.np and 103rd have the garage capacity for this?

I also heard in addition that there is a detour coming and the arctics could not pass through the proposed detour. Anyhow that is crazy they did many weekends of transfers (between NP and 77th) to just give them back. Talking about the #26 (unrelated) some select runs on 26 will begin storing downtown to reduce deadheading, I found that interesting to start storing attics underground. Also unrelated next week there will be some major changes to 8 halsted but that is for another topic. so 77th will get more 40 foot buses? And the artics will be no longer at 77th? I was told that the 7900's (the ones they have now) will help (yes I know thats not enough) in addition to other 40ft. I would hope that we get 2 busses per arctic but thats a crazy thought. I hope 77th don't lose their NF that it has right now, especially 1900's.

I don't think 77th will lose nf's unless it's for the #7900's as 77th is going to need more 40 foot buses for the loss of the artics. So they should be gaining not losing 40 foot buses. I wonder if fg may finally get some nf's as 12 of the 40 foot extras already exist in the form of #7900's and 103rd and np may not need to send 77th all there surplus nf's. Unless that's why were seeing kedzie nf's at 74th because they are the ones picking up the surplus nf's

Actually, some one J14 and 5 26's go to Randolph, while 3 1's and 9 8's that go to Randolph now will go to 901 W Division midday, with all 12 going back to 8. As someone by 79th I'm calling BS on the artic move and reasoning.... artics don't cause that big of a delay on 79th nor were they causeing issues on 3, 4, 8 or any others. If Marine Drive can handle routes 136, 146 & 148 in the rush then I don't see what the issues are abiut the routes 77th chose to use there artics on
Mr.cta85
So basically 103rd will get more artics which is cool but he never said they will lose any 40fters.
jajuan
The interesting move that caught my eye is his mention of the NP move of artics from 135 and 136 in the PM and placing them on the 22. Someone finally got wise that more capacity is needed on 22 than a lot of the 135 and 136 runs in the PM rush. And Sam has a point that delays being a part of the reason for moving artics off the 79 is rather empty given that route had big delays when it was all 40 footers along with the point of artics getting through on Marine Drive on 136, 146 and 148. Clark is also a tight squeeze in a lot of spots yet Andre reports NP is putting artics on the 22 during the PM rush in addition to already having them on that route in AM rush, evenings after PM rush starts to end and on weekends. So something is not completely adding up for taking artics off 79. But if they are it probably would have made sense to place assign them spread among the 3,4 and the 8 to help out the 40 footers on those routes over just giving them up though it sounded like he was saying the move was focused more on 103rd in light of the mention that the 22 PM rush artics are primarily artics usually placed on 135 and 136 at this present pick. Plus this turn in the discussion sounds better suited for the More Bus Moves thread.
artthouwill
Seemingly there is an uptick in deliveries of 7900s, which for the forseeable future will continue to go to 77th. As for 77th losing artics again, it doesn't surprise me.
ajm522
The 7900 will probably be stationed on mainly 79th street but we will probably get some NF. One due to losing 30+ artics and the new changes to number 8 which may require more busses then before.

The are no 7900s active right now.
