Just to give everyone some more context on the interior this is what it'll look like and also sound like with a few modifications courtesy of CTA of course. There is also 8 #8350s in total now at SS. One is hidden behind #8354 in one of our eastern bays of the garage I'll try and find the number for it though later on this afternoon.

I hope those small light sticks are still in the center just like where the #7900’s and #8325’s have them.

Not unusual there were 2 1000s, the second one (and the one in service) arriving after 1244. The first remained as a mechanical trainer. The same happened earlier with RTS 4400 and Flxible 5300.

This did not happen with 7900 although the bus was out of use from 6/2016 thru 8/2020 as a mechanical trainer. Does having a pilot 8350 implies significant differences to the earlier batches?

Yeah if memory serves correct. I've been on both #1000 buses. One has newer seats in the rear older in the front and the latest one has either all new seats or old ones.

the current #1000 that’s in service has seats like 1300-2029 do it don’t got the square ones like 1001-1299

The old style seats were from when NF said it was short of the wider seats. At the time, NF said it would replace the seats, but from what you said, they never did.

Yeah that's right. But the original didn't. I think there might be some pictures in the gallery here of the original. You know the 2x2 seating behind the backdoor was the only new seats on that bus. But to be a true pilot, it was piloting both seats. I think the old ones were American seating Corp seats. In order for the 2nd #1000 to have e all new seats it must have been produced after 1305 the oldest bus to have all new seats.

At first I thought the second #1000 came after #1429 and before #1430

I have checked, you are correct the chassis number for the second 1000 is between those for 1429 and 1430

1429     5FYD4FS166B030731

1000     5FYD4FS106B031602

1430     5FYD4FS197B031793

not sure where I got 1244 from in my previous post!

I’m thinking on this is how it all went down

Original #1000 (November 2005)

Option 1: #1001-#1228, #1230-1429 (2006)

Option 2: #1430-#1629 and #1229 (2007)

Option 3: #1630-#1929 (2008)

Option 4: #1930-2029 (2009)

Some of those mid #1300s are early 2007 models.

i wonder where @YoungBusLover is……unless he’s getting dogged on 79th

I had a good chance for a picture 8368 is on the corner of vin/79th, but my phone was off. Wonder why the deliveries are jumping around. We'll be to 8400 very shortly at this rate. I remember this is sort of how the 6400s came in.

Nope just enjoying my days off. The days I was there no deliveries took place.

Just went by south shops. #8368 and #8369 have arrived.

Were they together alongside the other 6 already there at 79th and Vincennes?

Wow seems like we are just missing #8362, #8365, #8366, and #8367 while we have all of the other buses in the #8360-8369 range that have been delivered and built just like how #6540-6549 came early in 2000. It’s interesting  to see that manufacturers deliver higher ranged buses before low number ones arrive

That might depend on how they are parked

O believe they are road tested in the area first.  They might have to have minor adjustments made, but they aren't parked in any particular order

Neither are they grabbed in any particular order.  If it's up to a hiker  he will grab the nearest bus regardless of the bus number.  Depending on the parking,  it might be necessary to move the lower number buses so they can be easily accessed.   Otherwise a hiker might grab a 8400 parked near the entrance rather than a 8380 near the rear of the facility.

Yeah  I drove by with my bus, I was over there and had the chance. SS is getting crowded with all those new buses. There's not really any space for new ones to arrive. The whole west end of 79th is full of #8350's with the #600's beside them. At least #8327 is in the eastern end not so isolated. Don't know what they are going to do. I don't remember seeing license plates on them so it will still be a couple weeks but if more come in they'll probably have to fast track the 8350s

Yeah none have license plates as of right now  but I'm sure they will in the next few weeks. As far as over crowding is concerned is they'll probably end up in the garage bays since we have little to no #4000s taking up space in the western bay area. 4 West has the most space for them if push comes to shove. CTA should really invest redesigning the boneyard to accommodate new deliveries, tows and scrap yard hauls. #8366 is at SS forgot to mention that.

or maybe repatch the whole boneyard so there’s not so many potholes
