MTRSP1900-CTA3200
I was on the third car. Sorry for responding a little bit late on this. Better late than never! Thanks!
BusHunter
Thanks!! I had no idea TI-2 was actually that same #5300 on Lawrence. Somewhere there's a picture of it at Jeff Pk, i've seen it. I believe you said that that bus had no lift. I don't know if TI-2 had one or not, but it's sort of oddball, the later pictures at Chicago garage, I believe have it marked as accessible LOL!! Well I guess I got to look over those shots now that you said this. I found the chicago garage shot of the former #5300 demonstrator/mechanical bus with no lift (future TI-2) and it is marked as accessible LOL!! strictures
Looks cool, but why can't they use actual sounds? 'L' Trains don't have that type of horn, just a whistle. What's next, a ride on a Nova with this sound coming from the engine? What's wrong with a bit of reality in the fictional shows? I remember in "The Fugitive", Gerard(Tommy Lee Jones) hears in the background from a phone trace of Richard Kimble(Harrison Ford) the announcer of an 'L' train saying next stop is Balbo Station. They always add air brakes to L trains, which is also ridiculous.

garmon757
I'm here riding #1199 on #55. What the hell is going on with these odd moves???
Busjack
I'm here riding #1199 on #55. What the hell is going on with these odd moves??? If you want to know you have to trace where it was (as we know where it is now). With regard to 74th garage, there is the combination of having the worst Novas from 77th and you reporting a whole mess of buses in rehab. Maybe, like Dan McNeil (formerly of THE SCORE), they drink too much.
jajuan
I'm here riding #1199 on #55. What the hell is going on with these odd moves??? How about something not so odd? I rode 1162 on the 9. It's a ghost bus on that route. 77th sending that back to 74th is not so odd as 1198 and 1199 at 74th or 1141 at Kedzie.

It always seems like when 74th gains #1000's they lose some too. Btw, #1341 just passed by on the #49.

Btw, #1341 just passed by on the #49. It's almost like they go out of their way to try to keep those crappy Novas at 74th outnumbering the NFs there. That's almost as bad as them going out their way to keep FG stocked with only 6400s for the time being.
ajm522
Didnt 77th give away upper 1300's to 74th only to give them back? It is weird for 77th to be giving random busses. Maybe this is temp.

Maybe this is temp. Maybe CTA is going to the method New York has used for decades - when a bus goes to the shop, it is replaced by the next bus ready to leave the shop. As a result, it is rare to have two consecutively numbered buses at a New York City garage, unless they are brand new.

New York can't be doing that totally, as there are some CNG depots and some hybrid ones.

Similarly, with the grousing about 1200s, 1220 up were originally 77th. With stuff like what Andre originally mentioning (and Archer having given up its to go all Nova) I'll bet it is almost impossible to find a NF at its original location. It might be slightly different than that.

To further add to that assessment, 1630-1720 always have been at Kedzie and never moved. 1731-1735 probably never moved from 74th. Some of the 1740s were borrowed by 77th early on and some 1750s spent some time at NP but all of 1731-1760 are back at their original home garage 74th. Beyond that though, you're right Busjack that a lot of the 1000s are not at their initial garages. I think this how the format was: Archer 1000-1125 (I remember seeing 1110s and 1120s on #49 and #62), Kedzie 1126-1225 and 77th 1226-1329. It might be slightly different than that. Actually the divide between Archer and Kedzie was slightly lower but it did tend to fluctuate by one or two buses depending on the pick. Sometimes the divide would be Archer's NFs ended at 1120 and Kedzie's started at 1121 sometimes that would be up to 1121 at Archer and Kedzie starting at 1122. But the divide was pretty consistent at being in the lower 1120s between Archer and Kedzie. Plus Kedzie's lower numbered NFs pretty much always ended at 1225 out of its first 100 NFs.
