That would be a funny joke. However, 103rd isn't lacking for buses and can actually afford to give the ones for the 26 up to 77th. Having taken the 78 and 81 recently, those weren't pleasant rides and I used to love taking the 78. If this happens, at least no one can say the south side isn't terribly underpriviledged when it comes to transit (though a few more express routes wouldn't hurt).

So far the 2 garages with the 7900s had 6400s.  Based on that trend,  only Chicago and Forest Glen qualiFYI for new Novas.  I stick by FG getting them next,  though I submit that Chicago Avenue is a real possibility.   Even though C only has 45 6400s, CTA hasn't been shy about unnecessary bus swapping.   Perhaps the most feasible thing would be to send C 8100 - 8144 and the rest to FG.

Im not the least bit surprised!  Once again the south side continues getting new and better equipment than other parts of the city while CTA continues to shun and neglect the NW side bus and rail riders. Forest Glen continues dealing with all the old ,beat up buses the Blue Line continues with the oldest railcars in the fleet. BTW,  ForGlen is getting more Novas from Chicago ave.  Total BS!

I figure that this is more like Let's Make a Deal than The Price is Right. Monte or Wayne have already revealed what's behind doors 1 and 2, leaving only door 3. If this turns out like Door 1, with 77 not really needing them, some garage is going to have to move 100 NFs to FG, or FG is going to have to get the 100 buses.Maybe this isn't much different than 74th being all 6000 until about 150 were traded to other garages, especially since the rehab process seems about over. But certainly, the farm cart behind the curtain was scrapped early in the show.

Thus, if we are to believe MrCTA85, someone is going to have to say what 100 buses 103 is losing.

Yeah, it was all in good fun, right MrCTA85? Now we should start seeing what FG has been neglected long enough. (newer equipment) The jig is up, by next year Fg should fall in line with the other garages. Although Fg probably will be receiving more #6400 Novas at first. If they can even receive 100 #1000's, which may be possible for the fall pick as #1000 rehabs should be done, they could retire everything pre #6709 or close to it. The only wildcard is this only 77 buses constructed we've been hearing about. That might knock down FG's #1000 count, but eventually they should receive them.

I was thinking even if chicago got the #8100's, it would be interesting. Those buses have never ran on anything more than the #65. It would be nice to see them on the #74, #53, #54 or #72.

This is what we have to deal with often!   So one broke down 8000 Nova is only a pinprick compared to the breakdowns we see on the NW side.

I was on a 6500 yesterday on the #76 and sat behind the rear door.  It would not close after someone went out so I had to pull it shut for the driver after each stop.  I will wait for my paycheck from the CTA

Might it be that with the driver shields on the 7900's, offering better protection to the bus driver, that CTA is placing the buses where drivers are at the greater risk of becoming involved in a risky situation.  Remember SAFETY first.

I agree Safety First!!! Im one who will never dispute that!  But as a former operator, Forest Glen drivers are always at the same risk of harm from passengers as operators from any other garage. The safety shields could not possibly be the issue.

Now that makes a heck of a lot more sense than 103rd even if Chicago is down to only 45 6400s now and which by now folks should have figured out had to have been a joke on MRCTA85's part to see how folks would react. Remember he told that same joke as 8000-99 were being placed at 74th. And he admitted at the time that it was a joke based on wishful thinking if I'm not mistaken.  I'm surprised to see how many fell for it this time. So this should end all the gripes about the south side getting them first. We'll be seeing some 7900s on the north and northwest sides now at least, through service on the 53 and 54 and service on the 72, 73 and 74. Plus it can at least be said it was justified that 74th got some sense that garage at one point had more freaking 6400s than 1000s. 77th was and still is the garage that can be said got them unfairly given it gave up all its 6400s and forked them off on 74th, Chicago and poor FG. So beyond that particular dynamic, griping that the south side got any 7900s when 6400s were on the south side too is just plain exaggerated and going a bit overboard.

Im currently traveling on 80/90 heading home from Cleveland  I just spotted CTA Nova #8112 parked at a rest stop 40 miles east of Toledo Plus earlier two NF 7293 7294 for NYC.

no pictures??  If they are coming in order that's 13 buses. If we're lucky they'll hit the street this week. But it might be more likely the week after.

Not able to take pics because I was driving opst the rest area  But I got a close enough look to see the bus number. This happened only a few minutes after I saw the two NYC NFlyers Heading EB.  And just within the last five min I just spotted another NYC NF heading EB Just east of South Bend.
