I think its a GG1 they have. When they retire I have a feeling IRM will buy one of the roof board #3200s. I think those roof boards are permanent in the ones that still have them, if CTA tries to take them off they’ll have bite marks. Lol!!!

130th St for the time that it's in city limits isn't even 4 miles long, and ~2 of those miles present no place for a bus to stop or places to serve that need a bus line. The 34 would probably be rerouted to be bidirectional in the gardens and the 30 might be extended, along with various other Pace reroutes

That's similar to what WMATA's Red Line used to do. During peak, some trains would run from Silver Spring to Grosvenor-Strathmore instead of Glenmont to Shady Grove. However, that proved very unpopular over the years, and the Silver Spring turnback was eliminated first, then the Grosvenor turnback.

I think one issue with this is the political fallout, as people outside of the Argyle to 63rd area would have problems with the perceived appearance of less trains (however true or false that might be), especially since transit initiatives and changes are notoriously miscommunicated to the general public.

Also, because I'm having trouble understanding, are you also proposing 130th-63rd trains in addition to Argyle-63rd and Howard-95th trains?

I’m proposing either use purple to eliminate some reds but if they don’t do that then use the middle tracks to help put empty trains where they’re needed so you’d have Howard to 130th trains alternating with Argyle to 63rd trains in the peak. That way not too many reverse peak trains making a long trip on the Dan Ryan side.

Ah, gotcha. It seems like they just barely have the space to do that, which is about 1000 ft, which is how long 63rd's is (technically ~1500 ft, but ~1000 ft is the space btwn the interlockings). I'd actually be in favor of a service setup like that (peak only?), especially if they can ever figure out a way to double platform Loyola for Purple Line Express service. I still don't know why that station has a ~1000 ft long platform. I don't think it can get any narrower either (although no one's beating 35th-B'ville-IIT)

The Brown line testing should be done by now.  The Green Line is the only route that has yet to see them.   The Blue Line gad two rounds of testing so far.  We just have to see what happens next and who spots them.

I swear they weren't actually on the Brown Line. I was looking for them for 7 combined days, nothing. And all the usual videos on Twitter/Instagram from area railfanners weren't taken like they usually are.

usually carch them at kimball in between noon and 1:20pm these last few days they were in kimball yard so this might be the last week testing on the brown line

I got lucky and rode them twice on the Brown line, once in the morning and once in the evening.

It can be Green or Red on the 95th side. Howard operators had their turn, and Blue Line operators on the FP side have to have a turn as well.

No Blue Line doesn’t need them anymore for testing lol they had the #7000s three times I believe, back in April to mid May earlier this year the second time when they went down there was when the left Howard after they finished testing on the Yellow or Purple last, until they get assigned there are on that line.

Hmm familarization training??? Why get familiar with something that wont be on the line or will it??? 

I wonder then will the order be starting to arrive soon. I thought more like May 2022 but maybe not.
