sw4400
FG has no artics officially based on the garage assignments page. 4193 was either on loan or doing a 92 short turn back to the garage which has happened from time to time dating back to the Americana days. There have been times when a run on 146, 147 or 151 or other NP route close to the lakefront ended at Foster and then a '92 to KEDZIE' gets flipped on and the bus pulls in at the North Park garage. Those 1300s you got for Chicago are actually part of the Kedzie roster now. 1672 should also still be Kedzie, as I recall it still has been appearing on Kedzie exclusive routes this week. And I think 1525, 1796 and 1831 have popped up on 14 and 26 this week. I probably haven't noticed those 1300's on Kedzie, 1672 was on #50 Damen a day or so ago. 1526, 1796 and 1831 who knows... but when I saw them, they were on 77th exclusive routes. jajuan
today #1554 was on the #29 State on bus tracker 1500s like the 1300s are popping up all over the place. With the 1300s, they're at 77th, Kedzie, NP and Chicago. With the 1500s they're being sighted from 77th, 74th, 103rd. Long story short the 1000s period are all mixed except though Kedzie, 103rd, and 74th seem to have the bulk of what they had to some degree before the service changes took effect outside additions to replace Flxs they had (though 103rd had a bulk of its old Flxs replaced with 4000s). Busjack
There are also some just are scattered about. When I went by FG a week ago, 1088 was sitting on Armstrong Ave. 1090 also showed up on Bus Tracker in FG territory. Between undoubtedly this scattered stuff, and not being sure what route is exclusive, I think it is just going to continue to be confusing, especially now that about 1500 buses are essentially fungible (i.e. all have preheaters, all are low floor, etc.). This is true since at least twice this week I saw at least one PM rush run on the 1 that was clearly a Kedzie NF because they ended up on Kedzie routes on other days afterward, and late Thursday night I physically spotted 1609 on one of the first N4 runs at State/Washington though Kevin has both listed as 77th exclusive. There's also the physical and Bustracker sightings of Optimas on 39 and 43 though the bus assignments on the site don't have them officially assigned to 77th and the sighting of 6870 on the 143 but 77th isn't listed as being one of the official garages for it currently. Maybe he meant 4207 perhaps since 156 is now supposed to be shared between Kedzie and NP, and 4207 is from NP and the only artic ending in 07 at NP. My reaction is that with the eggs being scrambled 10 days ago, if someone is going to post a bus sighting, they should say why it is unusual.
RJL6000
Today I saw Nova 6663 traveling #2 Hyde Park Express Southbound. That's a bit unusual since the #2 is shared between 77th and 103rd Garages, and bus 6663 is supposed to be a 74th Garage bus.
pudgym29
I bought the quarterly pass to attend movies at the Univ. of Chicago's DOC Films (Max Palevsky Cinema) for this quarter. I usually go on Thursdays. So I've been riding the #6 Jackson Park Express bus from State & Lake to Stony Island & 59th St. Going southbound, the service is provided by an articulated bus, which now is from 103rd St. Garage. Returning from there between 11:30 pm and 12:20 am, sometimes the route #6 bus is a 60-footer, and sometimes it is a 40-footer. I surmise the 40-footers are interlining from another 103rd St. route. I was looking at BusTracker yesterday, and after ticking the box for NB @ Stony Island & 59th, espied a 60-footer running on route #15 Jeffery Local {see attachment}. So we should add route #15 to the list which sporadically are served by an articulated bus. Is there a 'master list' of routes which are assigned 60-footers? New Flyer
Its not unusual to see and artic on the 15 and that late night run may have been a 14 that does a 15 on the last trip.

Busjack
This morning I saw Nova #6856 traveling southbound on #143 Stocton/Michigan Express. Again, read this post. Is the inference that it is a FG or 77 bus, or what?

Busjack
That's supposed to be a 77th Street bus. So, it was probably interlined. There was someone on the radio yesterday complaining about south side buses on the north side, of course leading to the predictable conclusion. He probably did not hear of interlining. So I've been riding the #6 Jackson Park Express bus from State & Lake to Stony Island & 59th St. Going southbound, the service is provided by an articulated bus, which now is from 77th St. Garage. What is surprising is that some of the last runs back north in the late, late evening are also operated by 60-footers. I was looking at BusTracker yesterday, and after ticking the box for NB @ Stony Island & 59th, espied a 60-footer running on route #15 Jeffery Local {see attachment}. So we should add route #15 to the list which sporadically are served by an articulated bus. The 6 used to be handled by 77th, but 77th transferred all of its artics to 103rd and 103rd now operates the 6. BTW there has always been at least one or two artics operating on the 15 Jeffery Local. During the day because it serves several high schools (CVS, South Shore,Mt Carmel, Hyde Park, Kenwood) and for some reason, some late at night. Yesterday before noon, I've spotted a 4000 artic operating #28 Stony Island, I believe it usually 1 or 2 be on that route as #15 Jeffery Local daily. As for #6 Jackson Park Exp. I'm glad that route transferred to 103rd and hopelly it stay there if the service gets restored. When the route was at 77th, it barely uses 60 footers nightly or weekends, now they do by 90 percent of the route by 103rd, the route should always be mostly 60 footers as Route 14. busfan2847
So, it was probably interlined. There was someone on the radio yesterday complaining about south side buses on the north side, of course leading to the predictable conclusion. He probably did not hear of interlining. On another list Andre Kristopans listed the 134 and 143 as:- "Finally, 120-121-122-123-125-134-143 have become strictly fill routes, using buses from all garages as available, just like a few years ago." At present I believe 134 & 143 are run by P, K, 77th and 103rd. There are significantly fewer routes that come from one garage and in fact there are some seriously odd fill journeys on some routes, again from Andre "Some real wierd ones is the one Kedzie bus on Indiana/Hyde Park in the AM rush, and the real kicker, Archer, nominally Kedzie, which has 74th buses during rush hours and in the evening, plus a couple of 77th in the afternoon. And to top it off, one of the 74th's turns into a State St for two trips midday! Also, Sheridan now has several AM rush trips off Diversey in the AM rush (shades of old Keeler!) plus one each from 77th and 103rd (see Hyde Park Express to Belmont/Sheridan)" Given also that there seems to be a lot of loans (77th has 504, 513, 520, 522 & 524 on 39/43 this morning (521 & 525 were on UC routes)) you need to check the run box on any unexpected bus to check if it is a shared route. jajuan
It seems the topic is shifting more to unusual bus sightings than buses moved to other garages as the topic title suggests. I keep thinking I'll see posts that somehow gives us a better view of how far the pot was stirred (borrowing Busjack's expression) now that the dust should have settled somewhat by now, but instead see posts that show some of us haven't looked at the new route assignments at garages given on the website. Busjack
The only things I can conclude: If you want to play "weird bus moves," you have to load this into your PDA.At least there was a rationale for the observation that "Novas are still on Western."It also looks like 74th got somewhat lighter with NFs and is at about 100 Novas (rough counts). ChicagoNova
It appears Nova 6847 is transferring from FG to 77th. I saw it turning southbound, going on the Dan Ryan Expressway as I was riding #12 Roosevelt today.

Likewise, it also explains why 6471-81 are not currently based at 77th. However, at the end of the tests on Western this May, you may very well see more Novas on the NP-only routes, especially during rush periods. It was a recent transfer from FG to 77th a few weeks prior to the February system pick. Thus, what you saw is a bus that was actually returning to 77th after being on loan to FG for the AM rush.
