Did NFs 1960 & 1974 transfer to NP or are they just lenders?

New Flyer #1930,1932,1934,1936,1938,1940,1942,1944,1946,1948,1950,1952,1954,1956,1958,

1960,1962,1964,1966,1968,1970,1972,1974,1976,1978,1980 have been at North Park since delivery. #1979 was transferred from 77th at some point, although why I don't know, as it unbalances the numerical even/odd split.

The #1900's evens you speak of above actually started at 103rd between late Dec 2008 to Feb 2009. I believe they were swapped for #1481 - #1529 odds that were delivered to NP.

Your probably right, Bushunter. I forgot NP had some 1500's for a short time.

Bushunter is correct. The even/odd split between NP and 103rd pretty much died to some degree starting at about that time since whatever odds or evens either had from the 1400s, 1500s, 1600s up to 1629, 1700s above 1760, 1800s, and 1900s got shifted from one of the two to the other or to one of the other garages to create consolidated number blocks of 1000s among the garages assigned 1000s if we only consider the insane shuffling during different points of last year before the service cuts went into effect and after taking into account the swaps between Chicago and NP that netted NP 1300s for the first time and that between Chicago and 103rd that resulted in Chicago getting the last of the 1000s deliveries both of which occurred within that Dec 2008 and Feb 2009 timeframe.

Is there a page associated with this website which purports to enumerate which buses are at a specific CTA bus garage on {insert date}?

I have a pretty good idea which buses are assigned to Forest Glen & Chicago garages, except for:

• I espied bus 516 running on route #54A North Cicero on Monday. I believed that FG had only Optimas 531-544.

• On Sunday, 25th July, route #12 Roosevelt (Kedzie) was running with all articulated buses, including 4051 & 4052, which both still had '03' stickers in their windshields.

Anyhow, please advise.

Nothing on the site. There are either (1) people who claim access to the roster, but don't disclose how, or (2) those who report sightings, most of which are now not as unusual as the poster thought.

516 was most likely a loan.

4051 and 4052 are two of the five articulateds (4051-4055) which were transferred from 103rd to Kedzie this past June. What's more, #12 (Roosevelt) and #82 (Kimball-Homan) both run mostly or entirely with artics on weekends.

is 103rd still short of buses? if so what can 103rd get to fill the shortage?

-516 is one of the handful of Optimas transferred from 103rd to Forest Glen for the summer since the U of C routes only need five plus two spares.

-4051 & 4052 were at 103rd until about the start of the summer pick. Not sure of the plans for these units but my guess is that there staying at Kedzie.

i just saw #1586 on the #53 on bustracker, is 74th losing buses to chicago?

Actually, #1586 was one of the 10 upper 1500s that were transferred from 74th to Chicago at the beginning of the Summer pick. (The group that went from 74th to C consisted of #1586-1595. Buses #1596-1597, 1599, 1601 and 1603 went from 74th to K.)

  • 2 weeks later...

Usually interlined with the handful of 74th runs on the #62.

Same thing with #8 especially at evenings which explains that I spot few Novas on that route everytime I drive on Halsted at evenings.

As for seeing Nova #6666(former Archer Nova) on route 2 which is rare, I guess 74th does a trip or two on that route or a loaner to 77th besides 77th never had 6600s.

Looks like there's some shuffling, all right: I saw 1755 southbound on Cicero by Midway Airport; that bus has been at NP.

That bus could have been the #54B (which is mostly a Chicago Garage route although 74th operates a few runs on that route), or the #55, #62H, #63 or #63W (all 74th routes). And bus 1755 was not originally at NP when it was first put into service; it was actually one of the 30 NF buses that originated at 74th.

And today, 1755 is actually on the #63W. Also, I found the lower 1720s that were previously at Kedzie are now running on the #55 and #63.

1751-1760 were transferred to NP from 74th last year. So this could be a loaner.
