briman94
They make Red Line Announcements between Fullerton and Roosevelt. That has always been the case since the reroutes beganevery time Ive been on the reroute, the drivers make manual announcements. Today was the first time I heard automatic red line announcements on the brown line.
wordguy
That's what I can't figure out. There might be something like balancing mileage, but C getting 8100s doesn't explain a swap.Sort of seems like a partial swap, maybe. The activity between K & 77 looks as if it may have been a wash: 14-, 15-, & 1900s in exchange for 1070s, 80s, and low 90s. (Mileage balance seems like a logical reason). The moves between C and 77 look a tad more lopsided: Lots of 1900s in exchange for a dribble of 1050s and 60s. Also a few 1600s migrated from C to 103. I guess 77 & 103 needed to beef up their rosters.Looks as if the surplus at C shrunk a bit.

I'll have to adjust the rosters in a few minutes, but if C still has a surplus it's possible Fg may still have got a few #6400's from C. We might be seeing a couple weeks of swaps up until the fall pick, it seems unusual they are doing a massive shift this far away from the fall pick. Mr.cta85
I saw 1658 as a 28 and i believe i saw 1659 as well. Can't wait to see what my garage got in full.
jajuan
Seems to me it's more a combination of mileage balancing and prepping for fall pick. I don't think X9 or X49 plays into anything yet because I'm still not convinced either of those will require that significant a bus increase as I still suspect they're going to keep that budget neutral especially with the state budget crisis ongoing and there not yet being state money allocated to fund CTA or any of the other service boards' next year budgets. Plus the way they worded the announcement of those made it sound like X9 and X49 restorations were coming later into the fall than the start of fall pick, but fall pick start will reveal more of what's going on at that front. BusHunter
A few more transfers not mentioned,#1051 on the #53, #1061 on the #53, #1077 on the #82, #1079 on the #126, #1085 on the #21. So it would appear 77th is losing most of the #1000's to Chicago and Kedzie, gaining each of their #1900's. That would bring most of the counts back to an even count, the only gain seems to be with the #1600's at 103rd but maybe they were short, they only had a 237 bus fleet. This is starting to look like the swapapocalypse part 2 we had all been mentioning before. When the south side sent most of it's #1800's and #1900's up north that left them with mostly low numbered buses. Looks like they are trying to get that older/ newer balance back. Dawnlight
On the flip side, I'm starting to see way less of those ugly flip dot 6400 Novas. Specially on the 81 Lawrence route. Another possibility is that by the time the 1000s finally hit FG, almost all the pre 6700 Novas would be retired. The remaining 6700-6800 Novas wold be swapped out with the 8200s. Another 30-plus 1000s would then be available for FG. Otherwise, The Glen would only receive about 55. My hunch is that once FG becomes so blessed, it'll get the lowest-numbered 1000s, including the ones that just arrived from 77th. Mr.cta85
You guys can add 1658 to 103rd roster. I saw it on bus tracker as a 28 and with my own eyes yesterday.

Dawnlight
The End is hopefully near soon, and FG gets something "new" or new in the coming weeks/months. If this ends up being true, (if you don't count the 800's) then FG will get oldest Flyers and the newest Novas in the entire CTA fleet. BusHunter
Yeah, that seems about right!#1594 and #1595 went down to 77th? Looks like #1667 and #1668 are headed to 103rd. Strange, why not just send the #1800's back to 103rd from Kedzie and just give them those #1600's they took. Maybe that's next weeks swap. If you're going off my numbering of the drawings, that's just for modeling purposes. There's a lot of possibilities for New Flyers at FG the CTA can go with. As far as the Novas, that's honestly hopeful thinking.... K and 1 still don't have Novas, and with CTA you never know who assigns equipment when it comes in to what garage.
