More Bus Moves

Looking at how things are shaping up with the New Flyer swaps, the 1000 number block looks to be beefed up at C, K, 6, 7, and 1. If the CTA is going to give a complete number block to FG, I would look for that to be done somehow when New Flyers start to move there(just purely speculation with how number blocks are shaping up, they could end up giving them various number groups of New Flyers). That would give FG 100 New Flyers... I don't know what the total number of buses CTA would want to put at FG but if they stick with 100 New Flyers and theoretically give the 2016 option of Novas(8200-8324) to FG, then the garage will have 225 buses. If they give FG 125 buses(1000-1099 & 1100-1124???) and 8200-8324, then FG will have a total of 250 buses.

Of course when the 6400s are gone, there wouldn't be a need for as high spare ratio at FG. So they may end up with less buses there. Yes they had a fleet increase due to the 76 being returned there after approximately two decades being assigned to Chicago. But remember their bus count increased before that due to CTA making that mind boggling decision to have only 6400 series buses assigned there. Plus with fleet numbers still somewhat jumbled among the New Flyer standards at the other six garages and each of the blocks assigned across multilple garages, your hypothesis that FG may end up with NFs from various blocks is not too far fetched.

So as I was pulling into the garage i happen to see more upper 1600's, i saw 1683 84 85 and even 1693. It seems like my garage is really starting to beef up for this fall pick.

It looks as if 103 did get some additional buses recently.   But I have a hunch that these latest moves are even trades.  As Andre indicated yesterday,  1619  was swapped for 1204,  which returned to K.

Just speculation here,  but some of those freshly-arrived 1600s at 103 came from NP,   so NP is probably getting something in return.   (Could be either low-1500s,  or, more likely the 1160s,-70s, & -80s).  1685 is a transplant from K.   Maybe the low 1200s are heading back to the West Side as more 1600s arrive from K.

It's all guesswork,  but there does seem to be a pattern.

#1262 is on the #22. Did you guys notice how they divided the #1000's 4 ways? 103rd has the first 30, 74th possibly getting the next 20, chicago getting the next 25 and kedzie getting most of the next 25. Now we are seeing movement on the #1200's. You would think with all the #1600's going to 103rd they would all go there, but it just seems like they are making small blocks of 30 bus packs like #1683 - #1705 possibly or #1597 to #1620. So with #1204 going to kedzie, would alot of low #1200's out of 77th be destined for kedzie?

103rd = 1683 ,1684 ,1689 ,1693 ,1695 ,1697 ,1698 ,1705

North Park = 1258 - 1262 ,1277 - 1279

16 moves total also Bus 8142 , 8143 added to Chicago Ave.

Saw 1262 on #50 today, still had the "03" sticker on it. I wonder if this is just to get the number blocks back together, or preparation for moves to FG at some point in the next few months, and from where(one garage or several garages moving New Flyers to FG).

It looks as if the migration of old Novas to FG continues.   Many of Chicago Avenue's last remaining first-generation 6400s are now showing up on FG runs.  Among them are/were 6453-54 & -56,   6550, -52,  & -58,  as well as  6686,  -88, & -91.   None of C's  second-gen Novas (6794+)  have appeared on TheTracker,  so I assume that they haven't moved yet.

Another overnight move:   More 1450s & -60s have made their way from C to 77th.  (77 may have a solid numerical block now: something like 1453-1465).

There doesn't seem to have been any swapping.  I guess C is continuing to lose some of its surplus units.

Was #6797 already at FG? If not, its on #77 now

#6797 must have  migrated overnight, too.  Either it just appeared on Math22's Tracker  recently or I overlooked it this morning.   Or  ...  maybe the exodus continued into the daylight hours.

What is with bus service on Addison tonight??? There's a concert at Wrigley, and no buses??? All I see on tracker is #6589 appearing to be delayed WB around Kilbourn and that's it. Is it broke down and no other Novas are operating on #152?

Addison Service August 29, 2015.jpg

Last bus hits the west end around 9PM. There are concert extras parked around wrigley most likely. Those will pull out of wrigley when the concert is over.

But since #6589 is marked "Delayed" WB near Kilbourn, do you think it's broke down?

Probably. I didn't see it there when I passed by on #6558 around 8:11 PM. I think I was 2 buses from the bummer as I didn't see any buses coming west from the blue line. Just a pullin to Central. They claim that if a bummer breaks down someone has to go over and get the passengers. They could always send over an extra or a pullin.

#6558 has some squeaky wipers. Then the operator put it on delay wipers and it wiped one way stopped and wiped back the other way a few seconds later like maybe it was getting stuck.
