Streetcar destination sign was always Harlem as the tracks did end at Harlem. For many, many years the WB sign was 65 GRAND-HARLEM CENTER. It was only in 1976 that 65 Grand / Nordica showed up, and 65 GRAND 65 TO HARLEM is from the digital era. As for Pershing, the signs originally were rather normal 39 PERSHING-LAKE PARK and 39 PERSHING-ST LOUIS. The "Via Indiana "L" Station" was added in 1949, when the Pershing L station was closed and some buses were rerouted past the Indiana station. However, until 1958 only rush hour, rush direction buses went via 40th, so these signs designated which trips went there. However, when all buses started going via 40th in 1958, it was the "normal" signs that got taken out!
garmon757
"Busses Gone Would - 1000s Edition" #1002 and #1018 are on #151, #1005 is on #93, #1024 is on #36, #1029 is on #49 (turning back the clock I see), #1217 is on #60, #1601 is on #87 (someone needs to get slapped literally), and #1985 is on #52. andrethebusman
1601 still belongs to 77th. Otherwise, it seems North Park and Kedzie are having a bad morning.

Just saw Fg loan over 7 #1000's to np also for friday morning. So then FG must still have spares or how else could they send over buses and not be short? You were probably lucky to see an #8200 at another garage cause probably a garage manager would scowl over the notion his/her new buses are being loaned out. But sure enough #8204 was on the #96, no pictures??? Garmon you are slipping!!

If so, I'd assume that the AM rush would require well over 200 buses on the street from FG. Regarding FG's fleet roster, with a decent spare ratio to account for the older equipment, they would possibly need at least 250 buses. Assuming no additional New Flyers, here's how that roster might pan out: 125 8200s, 41 1000s, & at least 84 6400s. Just wondering if there's still a garage or two that might have more NFs than they really need. FG currently has 1000-1041. Kedzie has 1207-1218. I would look for the next SwapoMania to have 1207-1218 go to 103rd and have 1041-1052 go to FG. Other swaps will no doubt occur, but these look to be the most likely to happen right off the bat. Fg might get some nfs but probably not until all novas are delivered and they are trying to eliminate 6400's. But let me remind people like Busjack that the budget did say dome #6400's would be retained so thats what probably is going to happen

The RFP for those buses has not been issued yet.

They'll need parts from donors until then, so that 3rd yard might have a line of Novas soon that are for parts only. It's all about supply and demand. How long will used parts last on a high-mileage bus?

I would venture a guess that the RFP will be issued after the budget is announced for 2017, so a manufacturer will be selected and building can commence with the pilot bus arriving end of 2017/early 2018. Probably correct. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, but maybe the testing on 79th has something to do with it.

However, you may have another explanation why FG has about 70-100 too many buses.
