If it was on the south end that you saw it on every other red line train going south is running to 63rd & Ashland during rush hour periods

I saw these cars on the Green recently not the Red, these two are mated with GL cars like 5200 and 5199, 5143 and 5144, etc.

Yea they might have swapped cars for some reason CTA likes to swap trains and buses just to get the same model

5617 and 5618 are also at Green.

This makes the 2600 series train spotted on the Green Line even stranger

Red has a surplus of 5000s.   It seems like Red and Green are swapping some cars, presumably to even out mileage.

5087-5088 was parked in the Howard Yard earlier today and I rode 5158 leaving Howard tonight on run #939.

What are you using to take and upload the pics? When you click to view larger, they all appear upside down.

Without looking at the car numbers you can still tell the green and redline cars just by how clean they are on the outside lol. Red line cars are filthy while the green still has a shine to it lol.

It appears right side up from my page. I'm not showing anything upside down. I go through my files and pick the pictures and send. That's it.

I wonder why Green and Red are switching cars. I also got 5689 and 5690 on Green Line.

Some say because of mileage which is a great point. My first thought was Skokie Shops Or maintenance related.

Certain Red Line runs go to Ashland/63rd to layup after the morning rush due to work going on at 95th. With that being said they’re probably using cars interchangeably because they use the same equipment. The cars that Red borrowed will go back to Green and vice versa when the pick goes into affect towards the end of next month.

I guess cars from The Green Line are permanent now? I thought those cars would’ve gone back to Green after the morning rush since today was the last day of Red Line trains going to 63rd and Ashland.

I think you mean 5148 is paired with 5147, as 5146 is paired with 5145.

Nope 5148 is paired with 5149 and those that I wrote was the whole train set sitting at Howard went back to 95th I rode it also 5145 is paired with 5144 just like 5143 is paired with 5142 because I rode 5142 on the green line today
