CTA 'L' Rosters

Well quite a few new #2600's were in Midway yard today. Whoever mentioned about #3185-88, #3197-98 being in Midway yard was right, they are there. Also there was #2643-44, #2693-94 in service. #2657-58, #2765-66, #2727-28, #2665-66, #2763-64 in the yard, so it sounds like maybe 74 #2600 cars are on the orange line now. (Still have to tally it up on the "L" roster.)

So for the orange line it will only have 26 and 3200's that is cool I love to see those 2 series together. They really compliment each other lol but seriously they do.

Visually I agree, but it seems like the mixed 2600/3200 trains are really rough when it comes to accelerating/braking.

I never noticed that. When the Brown Line was assigned 2993-3002 and a set or two was assigned with some 3200-Series cars, braking and accelerating was just as if all the cars were the same series.

I think all the cars that were loaned to Green and Pink Lines are back because 5237-38 5291-92 5367-68 5383-84 and 5437-38 this week

So are #5207-08, #5289-90, #5345-46, #5349-50 accounted for on the red line? That must be a pretty new change, the last roster I have from Oct says they are still on the Green line. Maybe that's why i haven't seen many #2600's sets on the Red line. (saw one yesterday though)

Sometimes it's worse than others. I was on an Orange Line to Midway the other day that was all 3200s and it was quite smooth. On the way back in I was on a mixed consist and it was pretty jerky when stopping and I could hear the couplers knocking around.

Add 3059-60, 3085-86, & 3193-94 to Orange Line. I saw them in consist with a 3200 on the end.

You still see the non work motor #2400's at Midway yard? Didn't see any new ones up at skokie shops, just the #2441-42 set mentioned at Howard yard. #5159-60 was still on the Yellow line for those mentioning #5157-58 was on the green line.

Sorry to spam the thread...I promise this'll be the last post tonight! 5455-56 and 5401-02 just went by NB. Not sure what they're doing with them...they didn't have training signs on them that I could see but I was looking through a slightly foggy window so I couldn't be sure.

Just saw either a 6- or 8-car consist of 5000s go by Armitage SB on the elevated tracks. New transfer to Green Line? Maybe a transfer to...gasp...orange line?

If the Orange Line gets any 5000s, it probably won't be until after the Red and Purple Lines are fully equipped. CTA has yet to start retiring some 2600s, as they have just finished retiring the 2400s. I expect that CTA will retire the older 2600s and send all of the later builds to the Blue Line.

However, anything could happen, since the Purple Line initially wasn't supposed to get any 5000s until the Red Line was fully equipped. Instead, since April, CTA decided to convert both lines simultaneously. Perhaps CTA will change their plans as they did with the Purple Line and start sending 5000s to the Orange Line earlier than initially planned.

I saw 3189-3190 on the Orange Line today (if I remember correctly; nearly positive). Didn't see those on the first page, so I'd assume they're recent transfers.

I saw this pair mentioned above and 3049-3050 in the yard. I forgot which pair was attached to a full set going into service this morning a little after 8 am. But one pair is active and the other is still in the yard on either track 2 or 3 mixed in with the retired 2400s.
