If it weren't as cold out, I would have suggested just waiting the extra 10 minutes to ride 8000 as it seems a good inference from the tone of the rest of your post that you would have still made it to work on time if you had.

Yeah, I probably could've made it on #8000 if it was the bus I had to wait on, but the weather was the big decision on why I took #1552 rather than wait for #8000. But, this might be a sign that my 1st ride is coming soon..... all I can do is wait patiently. We'll see what Saturday brings......

Wow #8031 needs a bath

Maybe you should have read:

I don't think that bus service can be maintained during a snow event if the bus has to stop at every car wash (not that it is going to fit).

Hey, you might get some entertainment down here! :)

Well I decided to not go that far south when I saw #1339 was back in service. It always seems to pull in on me or the tracker loses it. But I got some shots of the runner up #8035, that's not too bad. It was nice and clean versus #8031, probably the cleanest bus I saw all day. I was going to take a picture of #1339 but it was so salty like the FG buses I was wondering if we would have even seen the fleet number. I saw a few hearts drawn on the windows of the FG buses, maybe next month we'll see 4 leaf clovers!! LOL!!

I'm seeing the highest numbered Nova, 8077, at the South Shops.

Oh yeah, then that means they did the next batch too. That's what I was waiting to find out. That's good, then by May we should have close to 200 here and maybe Fg can get the #6800's back. Then we can move on to Chicago garage for the second half of 2015.

I was figuring up the #1000 rehabs, and if you figure the time it's taken them to do the 730 buses they did and the 300 that's left, that would leave them 8 months to be completed with that. They seemed to have slowed down on those lately though, so it might not be complete until the end of the year.

It seems for the most part that the 8000's aren't showing on bus tracker. I actually rode one about a week ago (a week ago lol) I was waiting for a northbound Ashland bus so I look on bus tracker and it said 21mins for bus 1154 to arrive but a few mins later a 8024 showed up. But of course I was happy about that.

So, we're expecting Garmon at the shops soon, any bets that there are 20+ buses waiting?

Side Note 1: 77th seems to send more Novas to the 3, 53A and 8. This isn't a one time thing, but a regular occurence it seems to be. Only 27% of all the buses on the 3 right now are NF's (around 5 or 6)

Side Note 2: Are those 3-6 Novas Garmon reported OOS still OOS?

That's been going on for awhile. At least since the start of the fall pick. 99% of NF on #8 are short trips to Chicago (some straggler NF are on 8 throughout the day (2 or 3). #3 is a different story most if not all of busses (rush hour or not) are 7900's. #4 is opposite where majority of busses on street are NF with a few 7900 sprinkled in. There has to be a reason why those streets get all Novas.

My original rationale was that 3, 4, 8 and 79 get priority, since I originally thought the novas sat more than the NF's. However, they seat the least in the entire fleet, so that reasoning got blown to bits. I can't really imagine what King Dr, Pulaski (from 31st to 115th) and Halsted all have in common, aside from major thoroughfares.

Maybe they need to check out the clever devices on these #8000's. They keep disappearing and reappearing. I notice sometimes they are not displaying upcoming stops. #8009 on #47 and #8025 on #49 I'm pretty sure are ghost buses right now.

I got pictures of our ghost buses #8009 and #8025.

"Who you gonna call?....." :P

#8009 did come back on the Bustracker for a bit, but as I sat at 47th/Ashland, it went from stuck at 11 minutes to my destination to dropped. But it did come as scheduled. #8025 was never on the tracker for the whole Nb trip on the #49, busfinder had it at 79th terminal for at least an hour and the #49 had a half hour gap. I figured that wasn't right and it was a ghost bus so it noted the leader and tracked it. I remember before both these two buses were doing this #8025 on the #44 last week and #8009 on the #9. That day Busfinder said it was at the Orange line for like two hours. One thing I can say about Busfinder is it doesn't drop the bus like Bustracker. At least we know it's on the route.

Looks like from my pictures #8025 wants to try out for the bus rodeo!! :P

The first pic of #8020 seems to have a old nova in the background. Father meets son.... (or something like that)
