garmon757
I only agreed that it's possible that a car could have done damage like that not that it actually did. Notice that I stuck with my hypothesis that it was a bus or truck. That's like saying somebody couldn't control a car in a stunt commercial! You're all good! mikeymc77
Most likely the skin of the bus is fiberglass as it is burned up in the main fire section. But the bus itself would have to be some kind of heavier metal to support the structure. Maybe it's not steel, but probably a hybrid of it. Well now CTA has a couple #4300 buses to pick parts off of. I wonder if it's possible to disconnect the rear of #4333 and put #4323's on it or vice versa. The front of #4333 looks OK and if #4323 has structural damage in the front then they could possibly make one bus out of two. At least #4327 now has a composite front from one or the other. New York had two buses with a similar situation. 5656 and 5658 were combined to form one bus. According to the website, they were also 60 foot New Flyers

Mr.cta85
Just saw 1969 as I was pullin in the garage. It had just came out the bus washer with the 95W sign still showing, all I saw was the back it was literally right in front of me as I pulled in so I don't know if that bus had a 03 sticker like 1985 did. Hey Garmon did you mean 1985 or 86 you saw with the 03 sticker?

qwantae
77th Loan to other garage is #1057 and # 1189 this morning on #36 #1245 is on 49B and #1953 is on #29 and #1541 is on #22. I've seen #1953 Turned off State St (Probably Dan Ryan) into 79th towards 77th Garage with "103rd Garage" sign around 10:30pm last night while I was riding #1963 EB on the 79 at Lafayette St.

BusHunter
It might take alot of work, but in the #4323 accident if it's just frame damage, then the hybrid components should work. Wouldn't it be something if they stripped down both buses and #4333 came back using #4323's hybrid components. It would be a hybrid bus then. That probably could be done at Bus and Truck or someone that specializes in bus rebuilding. It might be worth it to bring back a $480,000 bus. Busjack
..... It might be worth it to bring back a $480,000 bus. $940,000 bus. Might have to move some electronics, but doesn't seem insurmountable.

Oh speaking of 1900s, I rode #1932 (#79) and #1985 (#72) earlier today but #1932 had "6" and #1985 had "03" in their windshields. Yeah it seems the Allison 1900s are still in flux. Yeah i saw that on #1932 on the #8 the other day, I was LMAO. 74th was happy to claim it, it seems and 77th came in and said not so fast there guys!! They weren't just saying "not so fast" to 74th but to 103rd too. So they're probably saying North Park don't you move too fast on marking buses either because we're taking back those we sent you also. jajuan
A new Frankenbus ??? The fact that there is even a Frankenbus at all is a key example that using the two wrecks 4323 and 4333 to salvage one artic from and thus have a net loss of one bus instead of two isn't necessarily something that's impossible to do. The Frankenbus was after all put together from buses of not just several different models but also entirely different manufacturers.
