Are these really loans or is CTA preparing FG to receive the 8350s?

FG has been running more 6400s I've noticed. SS has been quiet, the same buses seem to be there on the fence #8327, #606, #607, #609, #610. It seems #603 is back in action. At least they got that bus running. I think 74th is just short. They just lost #1447 plus they had lost some 1500s to NP. The #8350s should be right around the corner. I expect them to receive them within the next 3 months by Feb but you never know if the pandemic has delayed deliveries or not. When 74th receives some 600s maybe that will release some of the shortage.

yea i think we are gonna see the #8350’s in service by february same thing that happened with the #8325’s but it’s not only FG giving loans it’s K and C as well once C receives more #600’s they’ll give up more 1930’s to FG to knock out some #6400’s and it’s gonna be like that till the #8350’s arrive i think @YoungBusLover mentioned #700-701 will go to 74th at some point

I was guessing it could be preparations the #1000s that were involved in accidents most likely decided to give up themselves, while they are cleaning the table for the #8350s. Most likely delivery of the first 100 buses should be in our hands fully by April of next year. It’s been two years since #8327 was OOS at SS, it could of been a severe issue causing it to be sidelined this long maybe, I have never seen a new bus OOS for that long if not involved in a accident or anything.

We need our 77th sleuth to take a look and see if there was a paper from maintenance. I dont get it, if it was a reject cta should get a replacement bus per the warranty no?

After reviewing everything again this afternoon here's what hasn't run in the last few days. Does that mean it correlates to these loans yes and no but it is something to keep an eye out for.

These seem to be a bit more cause for concern.

Usually routine maintenance will last 3-5 days depending on what particular service is needed for each bus.

I said something a long the lines of the #700s being active at the Midway terminal, In my honest opinion it would make sense for them to go to 74th but if not the #600s will.

I have noticed that there are a number of vehicles that disappear for periods up to 4-5 weeks. I assume they are waiting for parts.

What’s up with these loans at 74th do you know why there loans just wondering?

74th doesn’t seem to have a deployment pattern that allows buses to rest as much so that may be a thing. You got other places that have buses that go out en masse during am and pm peak like 103, K and NP but stay home in the midday and off peak but 74th buses tend to stay out longer and add on the imbalance of Ashland having so many unneeded buses on the road at night

I don’t think so but u don’t have to take my word for it lol, my biggest concern for 74th is that it lost a few #1500s and #1447 is most likely a goner since it is only 14 years old itself.

Define unneeded? Service is every 30 mins from roughly 12a-4a, that can't be that many buses, especially since it's only running to North & not Irving Park (although I've always wondered why there and not Belmont/Halsted)

Quick guess is less passenger demand north of North Ave and North & Clark terminal gives the 72 night service between Ashland and Clark.

6 buses on Ashland over night is the norm though and has been for a while. The demand is there at times depending on the weather of course but from my experience having taking 9 for 15+ years now the service is needed and the same could be said for Western and 63rd. Garfield is a bit more quiet overnight compared to the other three mentioned but in the grand scheme of things 74th does use the most equipment overnight, those #8000s are starting to show there age which is why we've seen numerous Flyers out overnight this past year.

Owl service is supposed to be 30 min BUT since the last NB non owl buses don’t get to Irving till 1:29 (and owl starts around midnight) you see southbound getting 15 min headways until nearly 3am when the last “daytime” bus finally makes it’s way back south then goes back to 74th while NB jumps straight to 30 min at midnight or 1am. Every other SB that finally makes it’s way south turns around and goes back to 74th. I’m not saying Ashland didn’t need owls moreso when it’s pull-in time you have 2 hours where every other bus is basically a deadhead wasting time in service since NP doesn’t chip in like western
