I heard this from another operator but the word is 103rd might get at least 10 novas. Mainly for Operators who do night cars. That's probably due to the recent assaults that happened to the last 2 drivers who are both from 103rd. But well see if that come to pass.

Don't  the New Flyers have the driver shields?  The shields didn't  stop the one driver on Halsted from being attacked with tequilas!!

Hey im just a messenger like I said this is what I heard. Even if that operator got attacked with tequilas on the halsted route the Novas still have a better shield than the flyers and trust me I know both buses still don't provide the best protection.

Seeing 7900’s at 103rd will be really fun and we really need those 8325’s to come soon I’ll be really surprised if 6400’s see 2019

I was on bus #8118 on the #53 Pulaski yesterday and the bus could not leave the 31st Terminal, it keep turning off and the destination sign turning to "CHICAGO GARAGE", and to make matters even worse, some random dude (I later learned this was gang-related) threw a bottle at the bus when we finally left when the bus was about to turn on to Pulaski at 31st causing everyone to get down thinking it was a gunshot. Today they threatened to throw bricks at the bus (last year apparently they bricked ALL the bus windows and chased the bus to Roosevelt and once the bus broke down they had to run just because someone from a rival gang was onboard) and we had to be escorted by the police all the way to Chicago. The crime is getting out of control in this city...

It sounds like someone either shut off the engine from the back or disconnected the battery, thus rendering the  bus inoperable and vulnerable to attack.

I'm not surprised, especially after hearing about the bricks being thrown. I usually never see crime here, this is a little shocking

Yeah, kids pulling the battery disable switch (located near the back of the bus, on the right hand side?) is not a new phenomenon. Between Chicago, DC, Baltimore, Philly, even when I've traveled to NYC, it's been a thing. Only place they haven't done it is Memphis, cause another bus won't come for 30-120 mins, no matter where you are in the city. Byproduct of growing up in the hood, I guess.

I thought the CTA had put locks on all the battery disconnect doors.  All the buses I see have them, bu almost all of the buses I see are from NP.

I'd be really surprised if the #6400s are still running in 2019!! That's 18 years without a rehab of any kind!!! :P

1. They're scheduled to (at least in the CMAQ grant application for the electric buses).

2. The second clause of your second sentence is false.

Why you mean the powertrains rehab? My first statement was meant to be sarcastic in a humorous way.

I dont know busjack throw in new 8325s, proterra and you eliminate routes like the 54a and they'll be close. Question is where is pace getting the buses for all those new routes they'll have?
